1: we have not gone live/opened the doors yet as we are still adding some content and finishing the last minute details to it..
2: This is a Photography related website, focusing mainly on the black&white aspect of photography, but dealing with everything else related to photography as well..We have three main parts to the site...the portal, the forums, and the gallery..
3: Please be brutally honest (im a photographer, i can take it lol ) let me know of any suggestions to make it better or easier to use..or..just anything at all..

I cannot comment too much. It's a forum script with a theme. If you made it,good to you, otherwise ... I haven't got anything to review. The site is not ugly at all and I think with time it will establish well in the community.
I wish you all the best with it

Hi
Looks nice. The texture on the stacked slides (and the really rounded corners) jumps out and looks a bit wierd to me.

I just get bored reviewing the same types of sites all the time, saying the same things... yawn. This looks like it was made by a script. For some sites that might be okay. In your case, I'm not so sure.
Photography is an art and I think that you could really go further with your design in that regard. Use a nice, big, good quality photo for your heading. Do something interesting with the layout! In general I think the 3-column layout is very restrictive. You could easily get rid of that right column and expand your content area (lose the "who's online", the poll, and the "top poster" boxes.) The left column is much too narrow for what's in there.
What might work here is a two column layout with equal widths on the front page. Then you could make the photos bigger to really show them off, and make the recent posts area wider. Clean off any boxes that don't absolutely need to be there. Then do something more interesting with the header and the navbar. Bump the navbar under the header graphic and do something interesting with it. Simplify the header with one nice, high quality photo. Keep the text smaller, and work on your typography there. What you could try is a rotating header, using the same logo text but randomize the photo for each page load. Normally this would be too hard on the load times but your users would probably appreciate it.
Normally I would say something about the colour scheme, but I think b&w is appropriate in this case. Just use it well. Work with the contrast.
The forum could use some additional organization. Reduce the number of forums to the essential categories (for rationale on this, look for reviews of other forums here. I really don't want to type that out again). I can also see opportunities for better organization here.
