Well I have just started building forumfinders.com this week and hope to be finished by the end of the month. The site is a forum ONLY search engine where people can submit there forum and users can search it in our database, I was tired of going to google and searching for a forum and getting tons or listings that were not forums. Anyways please tell me what you think or what I can do to make it better, Thank you in advance.

Hi, Forumfinders! Welcome to TWF! I see that you haven't Introduced yourself yet - why don't you go and do that? It's nice to find out more about our new members Smiling

To be honest, this site could really use some work. Th graphics are a good effort but generally look overdone and choppy. There is no need to put a drop shadow on everything! Try to keep things simple and avoid the impulse to use every effect in the book.

When trying to submit a site, I'm wondering if I have to be the owner of a site to add it. It think you might be able to get more content faster if you allow anyone to suggest a forum. Unless there's an administrative reason why you need to be in contact with the site owner.

Are you writing your own HTML here? That's admirable. I would reccomend that you learn CSS. It'll give you a lot of help in controlling the visual layout of your pages, and cut down on a lot of work.

Thanks for the reply, I will Introduce myself soon. I believe I fixed the image problems, and now seeing the difference, I definately agree with what you were saying. And lastly, yes we did write all the HTML by hand. Thanks again for the reply.

I get a small horizontal scrollbar at 800*600 because you have the table set to width="780" and the maximum you can have with 0 margins is 770.

The grey makes the site rather dull IMO and almost looks like a default where something hasn't loaded. Also I would suggest using Verdana (or Ariel) for your text font as it is cleaner and easier to read, plus it will make the site look more professional. The grey bar that surrounds your 'Forum Directory......' needs padding all round so that it doesn't hug the text so much.

Needs a bit more work. I do love simple looking sites, though I think that the site is too bland. Though the categorizing of information is done well.

Agree with all previous comments - i too get the ever enoying scrollbar (width)
Graphics need some work - but its deffinately a good base to work on.

Great concept, a tool I could surely use. I think you could use a better color scheme, more contrast in colors.

Nice design.
Love the idea of the whole site. I'd definitely use it if it were live.

Have fun with some colors until you get something you like (darker perhaps, easier on the eyes.)

Keep it real. And good luck with finishing it.

I think you have a bit off too much white space and the left and right hand bars are not really fitting. You should maybe try a condensed table style look which is recommended for directory type of sites with not a lot of content.

Good Luck !

I think the forum finder end looks great, I'm all about being simple, and easy to navigate, but the thing that confused me, was going from a simple nice layout, to your forums.. wow, BIG change. I love it though, I signed up Smiling

Hi,

The layout does not help the site. It is difficult to concentrate in the topics. I'm a fan of graphical sites, but the layout must be in harmony with the topics, which is not the case. I don't like the font used. Try the font verdana size 2.

Regards
