Thanks for your enthusiasm, sp_100! And thank you for reviewing some other sites first, your help is much appreciated. Smiling

Big usability problem here in that your links don't look like links. Put them in a different colour from the text so they stand out.

First statement on the front page needs to go into more detail about what you offer here. It's very vague. If you go into more detail there it'll be beneficial for new users and you'll also be able to get some extra keywords in for the SE's.

Another usability problem is the size of the text. It's hard to read text when it's that small. Bring it back up to the default size (or close to it), and it'll be much more comfortable for your users. Some of your screenshots are really small too. Make everything bigger and split the aritlce into several pages. That will be easier for people since it'll break the article into digestable parts instead of one long piece.

Some of your links on the front page are opening in new windows. This is okay if you're linking to other sites but when going to other pages on your own site it's just confusing.

I think you've got a good site put together here with some great information. Just remember who your audience is here and make things as simple as possible for them.

I also think that your design could use some work but you didn't ask about that so I won't comment further.

Hey I even learnt something from your site Smiling cheers

I agree with Megan on most of the points, especially finding the links, which is hard.

Some of your pages have big gaps between things, looking at your source code it's your editor thats doing it, dreamweaver ? or new version of frontpage perhaps?

On the optimize windows page, at first glance it looks like the bottom of the page, use the logo, top nav from the index page, keep it consistent.
use your tables more wisely, wrap the text around the images, this will make the page appear shorter which in turns appears like less to read. people are lazy, se a long page and run.

Watch out for the length of stuff in your title values (link titles), they are only a limited length so most of what you have is being cut off. It varies between browsers (the length) but can't remember off hand what the limits are.

You need to set a theme and use it throughout the site, it's very confusing when you go to another page and the design is different, dont know if your on the same site or not.

For your image samples, I'd use pop ups (did I say that), opening in a new window gets old real quick. I use mozilla so I can have tabbed browsing, having new windows (full screen) makes me work as I have scroll all the way over to the X or alt f4 it.

Thank you, Busy!
Thank you, Megan!

I'll probably take some time out, and change things around. I thought of waiting for XP SP2, and then just post the new version of the page... But now think that I need to start from scratch.
Not a big HTML specialist... using FP 2002 (easy interface), and then redacting some things, mostly code, with GoLive.

Thanks again! You guys are Great!

P.S. I like evaluating others pages, so will probably stick around...

I haven't read any other of your reviews so sorry if I repeat anything.

The header is kinda boring, well, most of the site is, to tell you the truth! A little color never hurt anything.

Some of the link on your site open in a new window, which is weird. I think it's the unwritten lawn to have your own links open in the same window. Where it says
News
CNN
BBC I think you should put a vertical line there to show the page has ended.

I hope you leave the current info there as well as updating for SP2, you have a lot of helpful info and not everyone is going to update to SP2

You should maybe learn HTML, it's not hard to learn. You have a pretty basic layout as far as layouts go (2 column) so editing, playing with it wouldn't envolve learning everything. If you do go the way of learning HTML, also consider CSS which will make your life heaps easier.
If you have any questions post in the coding threads, plenty of good folks here willing to help someone out.
