What do you like/dislike about this design?
I'll almost certainly be doing an overhaul of these two websites over the course of the summer, but I'm interested in knowing what the best and worst aspects of my current design is. That way, I'll know what should stay and what should go.
Also, I'm working on a new site and here is a sample page from it:

Any critique would be appreciated!

I think i like them both! They are very clean and well layed out. Good information and content as well. Between the first two links ya posted, they both look pretty similar. I really am not sure what the difference is except the picture and some different links. They both look good though. As for your new site you are working on, its too is nicely laid out. You may want to spice some things up though...maybe add rounded corners in the design instead of straight edged...It would help alot!! Maybe also do something more with those links. You have a rollover effect, but maybe have like a swap image effect where different images appear when ya roll over the link. That might go well with your type of site. Also work on a new logo instead of just text
hope that helps! Good job!

I like both designs too, but that Chines Dynamos site is in two web rings, maybe that's a little too much. But that's just something inimportant.
Good job

HEAVEN ON ICE:
1) I like the layout, design, and colors.
2) I don't like the logo. It's too big, and it's also pretty blurry.
3) Heaven on Ice webring doesn't go with the rest of the site.
CHINESE DYNAMOS
1) Same design as above. I guess it works with both.
2) Again, logo is too big (pushes content almost below the fold), and it's also really blurry.
3) Too many web ring things.
NEW DESIGN
1) Too plain. Maybe add a border or something around the whole table.
2) I like the layout and nav and logo within the table. I would pre-load the images for the navigation though.

If you're redesigning, you'll probably want to try to make the first two sites (Heaven on Ice and Chinese Dynamos) less similar to each other.
I like the header graphic - for a site like this you don't have to have a typical "logo". The graphic headers are very well done (on the Heaven on Ice Page) and give feeling to the site while maintaining a continuous look and feel.
The most glaring omission IMO (and I can't beleive it hasn't been mentioned yet) is that you should have a navigation menu on every page. It's quite a pain to have to hit the back button when you want to explore another part of the site. Make a menu and give your visitors easier access to your site.
THe webring things don't bother me at all - they're at the bottom of the page, below the fold. No problem. It would be good to have them on a separate webring page, but I think a lot of webrings have rules about where you can put them...
ONe thing you might want to try with your new design is using a different font - sans serif fonts like verdana or arial usually look better than the default (times). What I find interesting about the CHinese Dynamo's site is that you've used a lot of different fonts and it still looks good. This doesn't usually work. Oh, and watch it with the grey text on white background - it's kinda hard to read.
The FS Program Directory site doesn't really impress me as much as the other two. It's nice to see more colour, and I like that shade of red you have, but it doesn't really remind me of figure skating. The navigation is fading into the background and overall the design just isn't very interesting.
Funny, this one really reminds me of one of my sites - http://www.gym-routines.com. Kinda the same idea but different sports
Work on your navigation - that's the most important thing.

Thanks for the input everyone!
I can take out the webring for "Pairs Skating", but not for the "Elite Skating Webring" (the rules say you have to put it on your main page). Yeah, I remember wondering how on earth it could possibly look good on my site LOL...but I'm used to it now.
For the last site - I want something nice but not too fancy, since I'm going to be basically reproducing about 100 of these pages for different skaters. I'm also hesitant to make any major changes, since I'm collaborating with someone and he already loved the design. But if anyone can suggest some subtle changes that would make a good difference, please let me know. Also, I plan to change the background color for each skater to make it match the "mood" and color of the costume worn. Is this an absolute no-no, or would it be okay in this case?
And Megan - guess which site inspired this idea in the first place? Thanks, and I'll be sure to credit you. If you have any tips for how to go about a site like this, please let me know.

Cool! I still think you should do something to your nav bar at the top to make it stand out more - the grey is kind of fading away there. YOu'll also want to do something different from the header - you don't want to have to make a new graphic for every skater, do you? Make a nice fancy graphic header for "The Figure Skating Program Directory" - maybe have a graphic of a skater on there. As it is, the main title is too small and hard to read. I would put that on the left and have the nav on the right. Do your other titles (skater name, program type) in plain text - that'll make it much easier to change. You can still put the flag beside it.
Let me know what your final URL is/will be and I'll try to remember to ad a link on gym-routines. It is very hard to keep all the information organized - I wish I would have kept some sort of a chart (I did at one time, I just didn't keep it updated enough) of which routines I have, which ones I need, who needs a photo etc.
I really like the idea of changing the background on each page - an easy way to add some interest to a site.
We're using Server Side Includes for our navigation elements - that way we can change everything without much effort. I really wish I knew how to work with databases (will start learning soon!). That would have really made things easier to maintain.

-Heaven on Ice: Very nice and sleek design. Loads quick and I'm glad to see that so much work has been put into this site!
-Dynamos: Looks about the same as the one above. Again, very smooth interface and layout. Overall a good job!
