Hey,

Looks good..Here are a few suggestions:

1) Have a link in the intro that says "Skip Intro" or something.
2) I think think maybe if you added some more "brightful" colors that would be good. Red and black wouldnt be my choice of colors for a church site Smiling
3) I think the font should be different for the links on the side.

Those are just my opinions. Personally as a Christian, I think more colorful colors would be really good.

In any event, the site itself is really good! Good job!

Thank you for your suggestions...

I am doing a site for my church acually, and this youth site is going to be a sub-domain of it.

about colors, our youth group reaches some really "Without Christ" people. Youth leader and pastor discussed, i don't have a choice. But the church site will be a different story..... Smiling

what do you suggest for the navagation? that would be helpfull.... also would you suggest changing the top text also?

Alright, I'm thinking that this flash animation is taking a bit too long to come up here, and it's not all that exciting when it does. I would speed it up a lot - try overlaping some text and stuff. Everything else is taking a long time too though - could be your server.

Now I'm on the main page. I wasn't really paying attention to the animation, so I don't know what CAUSE is supposed to stand for. I'm sure I'm not the only one who doesn't pay much attention to flash openers.

The navigation menu is okay, but I think you should do something different with the mouseovers. Maybe a gold colour would be better...

I agree. The site takes too long to load. If it's not your server (actually even if it is), maybe you should go for smaller images (gifs instead of jpegs?).

The Flash intro is nice, but takes too long to load. I think that some of the sentences in the flash appear for just a second or two - I found it hard to read them so quickly and think about the message.

I agree about the site colors - unless "without Christ" means virtually satanic...Smiling - no offence to you or anyone in your community. I think that if you want to appeal to secular youth, you can go for a young lively look with bright colors. This is too "dungeon-like" IMO. Maybe you can talk to the people in charge and convince them?

Last think - the logo seems a bit jagged (the edeges of the characters are not smooth). It doesn't go with the "plastic" texture.

Overall, the site is pretty good.

Carry on the good job,

Anat.

If you really want my honest first impression...it feels like blood and the devil. It's that font and the color of that font. I know you said you are targeting some 'without christ' people - but maybe it doesn't have to be so 'dark'.

I have to agree with the consensus here. It looks WAY to dark. I understand about wanting to move the youth page to a more contemporary feel and trying to reach the "unchurched" as I am the webmaster here at the chruch that I work for.

I know it has to be a delicate balance about what it is to look like. I think our website in respect to youth is at the opposite end of the spectrum. I don't think wither mine nor yours is optimal for reaching youth the way we would like it to.

I hope you understand that I am not trying to tear you down, but I really feel like the super dark color scheme and the red text (much like dripping blood) is off the charts as far as a youth church website goes. There has to be different ways to reach the unchurched kids in your area.
