Look good! I like the colour scheme a lot - nice and light. Helps to get your message across.

I really like the navbar but I'm thinking it would work better vertically on the left side rather than horizontally. Studies have shown that the human brain can only process 5-8 options at a time, so it's a good idea to keep your navigation menus within that range. If you did it vertically you could separate it into two sections, leaving a little space before the guestbook and contact links.

The other problems I see are mainly with text and alignment. Try setting your text in a sans-serif font like verdana. It usually looks better on screen. I also think that you should align your page headers to the left and avoid centering things in general (like on the appearances calendar). I also see that one of the biographies is aligned to the right - left alignment is much easier to read. Also break that text into paragraphs, and throughout the site use the tag to define new paragraphs - the space it leaves makes things easier to read.

Some of the photographs look to be poorly scanned or poorly optimized - might want to redo those. Oh, and put a set of text links at the bottom so people don't have to scroll back to the top again all the time.

Thanks Megan,

As far as the pix go...

I know they are not good at ALL..but that is what I had to work with. I have done a TON of image editing, so I know how to do it...lol My mom and I are the photographers for the Michigan/Ohio Concert Choir. Last year we edited about 750 pix to be printed and sold to the 300+ choir members and they were used in advertisements and such. It is work, but I love it!!!

I will try and work out the problems with the text.

Thank you for responding!!!

Looks good overall. Just a few things that I noticed.

  • Navbar - the navbar look pretty good. At least different than most. The thing that I didn't like about it was that you tried to accomplish something that you could have gotten for free by using alt tags with the mouseovers that you have. The main problem is that peoples eyes are taken off of the link and up to the description of the link. This causes people with short attention spans (what was I saying, oh yeah) to lose focus. I just thought that it wasn't necessary. Alt tags are also your good friend on search engines.
  • Layout - I thought that the site looks better at 800x600 than at larger resolutions. I would not stretch all of the tables to fit the screen, only certain ones. This should give you a more common look. Some of the pictures as Megan mentioned should be redone. Also I am not sure why you chose to slant so many of your pictures. Some slanting to the right, some to the left. It could have worked on one or two pictures but you overdid it.
  • Metatags - So what exactly is a babtist? Is this for those that kant spel?
  • The scripture quoted at the top should be referenced. I would change the font on it also. I kind of like to use a font called Biblescript for scripture references. Oh never mind, I see that you did reference it on the left side. Maybe that is why I was thinking it was from I Peter.
  • Code - the code could be quite a bit cleaner. I would expand your stylesheet to include all of your font formatting to get rid of all the font tags. The code looks a bit like it was generated by Frontpage with all of the & nbsp;'s and stuff like bordercolordark. Also I would change my colors from FFFFFF to #FFFFFF.

Overall good, just some minor adjustments.

I love your graphics at the top. The colors are great! Definately change the font. It looks newspapery. hehe
I think some type of small seperator would look nice in between the prayers on the right. Maybe some really small boxes to match the rest of the site.

There is too much happening with the menu. You have the color change on mouseover as well as the text that appears at the top. Maybe if everything weren't so scrunched up it wouldn't look so crowded.

Some text links at the bottom of each page would be good.

All of the large paragraphs need to be split up into smaller portions and maybe seperated by a space or two.
I think that your page title graphics would look better without the "hc" above them.

Just my three cents. Nice site!!!

Very nice site, colours are very restfull. I agree with everything that's been said, follow those guidelines and the site will be very good.

I think the only page that doesn't quite look right (it all looks better at 800*600) at larger resolutions is the biographies page as there is a big white space under the first block of text, making the page look disjointed.

Even if you don't put the links again at the bottom, put a back to top link.

Good job Laughing out loud

I hope this doesnt sound bad, i dont mean it to, but first impressions to me (a male) looks like a pregancy or baby site, could be the baby blues and pinks.

the bottom picture on the products page isnt showing up, your coding shows "misc stuff\picture.gif" make "misc stuff" one word and it should show, if the picture is called picture.gif Smiling
on the bios page you have all the bios aligned left except Jeri VanEcks one, which is aligned right.

looks good on IE5 and Netscape 4.7

love the color scheme..

it looks a little scretched out on my large resolution .. and i think u should maybe try another font besides Times New.. little too cliche..

i think it should b a 'girlly' site.. cause that is ur target audience.. soo .. lookin good.

I like it. I love the color scheme, its nice and airy with a minimilistic feel to it. I love the navigation set-up.

Your site loaded pretty fast on my connection - 9 seconds on a 56k modem.

It worked in Netscape 6 and 4.7 exactly the same as it does in Internet explorer.

My only gripe would be to maybe add a couple on neat tables for your centre content, thats just me being fussy though.

All in all a good job, keep up the good work.

Cheers, Sticky
