Hey,

I just finished two logos..one for myself and one for another company, was wondering if you guys could offer any comments or suggestions on them. Thanks!

Wow, they're excellent in my opinion. I don't get what the symbol means on the first one though. Still looks good Smiling

I like them both alot. The second logo I particularly like, but I do feel that the text is a bit hard to read.

the artwork is fine ... the image file size might be a problem for those poor souls who use 28.8 modems and get to wait 10-15 seconds for the logo.

The second logo is excellent IMO, and is very versatile...you can use that in tons of promotion material, since it is very eye-catching.

The first logo...I dont get it. Smiling

Thanks for the comments.

I can see the confusion about the first one, though its a pretty simple design...I basically used two 'L' shaped objects to make a 'G', 'L'ucid 'G'ames.

I usually make logos big...they can always be scaled down or redone in a smaller scale. Anyway, there are entertainment logos...its all about eye candy.

Thanks again

I think they both look very good. I would also like to know what graphic program you used.

That looks like photoshop.

[Clouds filter for the background, path tool to make the initial design, then inner glow to make the white glow.]

[This one looks like it was make in Xara 3D first with the 'Shrapnel' thing, then imported into Photoshop. Then, a couple of different color bars, Wind filter, maybe wave, then a Gaussian Blur.]

Pretty close Mike Smiling

The background on the first one was with cloud, some noise, gaussian blur, motion blur, sponge stick to highlight the colors, and some burning. The symbol was simply two L fonts with a cloud fill and some lighting and misc. touchups..then I hit it with some motion blur and an outer glow.

I started with the shrapnel text by first doing a 3d metalic look by doing two gradient fills in different directions. Then some noise and unsharpen mask, etc... Then I did some distortions to make the letters different sizes and alignments and burned/cut some chips and cracks into the letters. I then made a replica of the text underneath and used an outer glow, winded it, distorted it, and then did some coloring effects to get the yellowish/orange look.

Ahhh well, I got the basic concept?

You know, I heard that's a sign of your talent if you can disconcern how another piece of work was made. Smiling

Good graphic design. For the lucid games one, I would bring the icon thingy closer to the text.

Thanks RJ, I am still tweaking the lucidgames one...I have a "newer" version up at http://www.lucidgames.net.

I just wish I could get paid for this Smiling I did the shrapnel games one for free for a game development newbie who wanted to start a company called shrapnel games...and I just found out that there already IS a shrapnel games...so my logo is now just going to sit on my harddrive for the rest of time Sad Oh, well...thats what you get for being nice I guess.

Pitch it to "THE" Shrapnel games- it's a damn good logo...
