I just acquired this site and although the colors are pukey, I kinda think it fits the theme. Please offer suggestions.

Hi, Good start but still lots of work to be done.

First off, The colors are ok, if you really like em, I don't too much contrast. Your links are all the standard dark blue in Opera and Mozilla. Only in IE do they appear white. This makes the links impossible to read and takes away from the site.

Secondly, The login on the side of the page is unattractive, its borders only work in IE and even in them the borders look bad. Just put one solid color around it.

Other than that pretty good, the logo graphic could use some work but its barable.

Good

theres an image? white box red square that doesnt show up on the front page. green is kind of slimy color. Wouldnt it be cool if you could make the site like lined sheets of paper layout? ( i have nooooooooo idea how you would do that aside from set a background image) -Josh

Thanks all. Perhaps I'll just do a redesign to make sure everything comes out okay. I wanted everything to be rather nerdy so I'll keep the concept, and the description of the site being 'slimy' is perfect Smiling so I'll keep that too. Josh, the paper suggestion is keen, and I hadn't thought of that at all, but for 'Paper Nerd', I'm really glad you picked up on it.

Thanks again, I'll post the redesign in a couple of days. All other suggestions welcome.

It's ok, I've seen a lot worse! I wouldn't choose those colours together but if you like them then who are we to object. I get a horizontal scrollbar at 800*600. My only other comment is that I feel the header part is a little too big, it takes up 50% of the screen at 800*600 which is too much IMO.

Not a bad start at all. I wish I could see some of the content. This looks like a very useful site. Smiling

I am not crazy about the colors. Too much green in the body and the red in the header overpowers everything.

The main thing that I would recommend is to shorten up the header part. Your content is too far down the page. You might could put the little "nerd" guy and the books graphics to the right of your text in the body. (above the categories.) This would bring the important stuff up some.

I agree with the others about the header taking up too much space and the colors kinda bother me a little.

On the "plagerism" page, you might want to do some text formatting (ie. bold section titles) so that it has more form and easier to skim for specific issues regarding plagerism.

Otherwise, it's pretty cool. Though, I do shudder at the thought of being the person doing all that custom researching...lol

Thanks for the comment about the header. I want it to appeal to students, yet be serious too (hence nerd guy). The header could be cleaned up and space allocated toward the bottom for a nice banner or something.

Yeah, writing's not my thing. Thankfully I'm outsourcing all of that stuff to a team of folks who actually write papers for a living (can you imagine?). They're pretty good too, getting them done within 8 hours sometimes. Geez, did I need them during my history classes Smiling

Thanks for the update, I noticed it today myself. The entire site (CPR Hosting) was moved to a new server on Friday and I didn't worry about the configuration because no clients use it and I'm doing away with the forums in the redesign (to be critiqued on the boards very soon).
