WebDevHQ (preview)
Here is a design I have been working on. I don't know if it works on Netscape (I am on my new laptop, and I forgot to download it). So could someone please check that? The URL is: http://www.webmasterdir.com/WebDevHQ

Matt,
Change your logo to something a little flashier. Since there are no other major graphics on the page, I would help to add some spice. Your page loads quickly and that's a big plus.
Are you going to keep the links in the body of the site that point to pages at webmasterdir.com or are you just using that until you have more content.
Overall looks good, keep up the good work.

Thanks for all your great comments so far. Are there ANY problems in Netscape? Yes, I will be moving it to the webdevhq.com soon.

Not bad...
1) I agree that the logo has to be a little flashier. Also- you can make it wider since there is all this blue space to the right of it.
2) I hate the mouseover color for the body part of the site. Make it a liter blue or something.
3) The menu is a little hard to find and hiden away. It reminds me of the old Webmasters Resources design/site. Anyway- I would make try to weave in a menu that's easier to find and navigate.

I find that the main part is unorganized. I see too many small blue lines across my screen, and it distracts me from the text. You should really play around with it more, but other than that it looks good.

I have to agree about the content positioning. It needs to be separated into two columns or at least organized in a better fashion. Your probably designing on a lower resolution then what I’m viewing it in so the content probably looks more confined.
I like the logo. It’s very simple and provides the essential text. As suggested you may want to liven it up. Maybe add some animation with some RED effect of some sort. Add some color!
I understand the need for advertisements, but they cannot dominate things. Right now they are the main objects on the page.

A good start. I like the header part with the navigation at the top - looks nice. A more interesting font would be an improvement for the logo.
Your content area needs better organization. The headers aren't standing out enough, since the links are a darker colour and about the same size. It might help if there was more space above them too - the content from the previous section is kind of running into the header below it. Also, they all should extend all the way across the page.
The navigation could also be more prominent. It is kind of a standard, maybe boring technique, but it might be a good idea to divide your content area into three columns. Web development types usually surf at pretty high resolutions, and it does get annoying when text goes all the way across the screen at 1024 (don't get me wrong though, scalable layout is the way to go!). A little more indent would help with that.
I don't think the menu is that big of a problem. The black makes it stand out against the blue/white layout. You might want to put a bigger menu on the main page, just in case.

Very nice! The only thing I can say is: why not trying to put the banner ad to the right of the logo? That would fill up that space as well as conserve space...

I disagree Justin, I would leave the banner ad where it is, not everybody will be at a resolution high enough to see the logo and banner without scrolling.

Looks good,
but the long navigation menu on the left is a bit distracting.
I'm not sure, but I think your should try removing the description ...
And do you really need both banners ?
ciao

Hi! I came up with a new, more attractive design that I think I am going to use. The other one had one to many errors in Netscape, and I didn't feel like fixing it if I didn't like it much. So here is the new one: http://www.webdevhq.com/design/ I hope you like it! Thanks.

Ok, this is on the new one. At http://www.webdevhq.com/design/
- The logo isn't the best I've seen. See if you can liven it up a piece.
You're site isn't the greatest thing on the net, but...it's pretty damn good. I can't find any real things you can fix up with it. So keep up the good work!

Being fairly new to the web design game can I ask a question ?
How do you get the green line across the page to be curved. Is this an image in a table ?
I think the site looks really good.
