Web Site Review Please - and some ad advice
Hi,
I am almost done with the redesign of cellextras.com , the redone page can be seen at
http://www.d-core.com/projects/cellextras.com
A few things first on the site, I know it loads up slow, the client wanted to keep the animated gif he made but its 40k and I will talk him into dropping it. Also, the inventory pages are getting changed so the text stays on color...but otherwise it is pretty much complete.
This is the last web page I am doing for free, so I am going to put an ad in the local business newspaper.
I am sure other people have done this before, its just going to be a very small ad with only 5-10 or so lines....does anyone have any advice on what I should say in the ad to attract customers.

Very advanced looking, but easy to navigate. The only thing is that 40kb gif, it's nice but fairly huge 
overall I'd rate it like, 9.5/10 
As for that ad, well I haven't placed one in the local paper before, but make your aim to make them go to your website. You can't fit enough info to attract them in 5 lines, but on your website, well, there's plenty of room to show your features there.

. That blinking also IMO makes the transition between images "jittery" for lack of a better word 
.
Site looks great, I only have time for the title page right now, I will probably go back later and take a closer look.
Just a couple of things, The corner lines (framing the mouse-over images) are shorter when the mouse is NOT over them, when the mouse is over and the image flashes on the size difference "blinks". That blinking distracts me a bit from the pictures which should be where I'm focusing
I would work on the logo a little bit, that font is really thin and could draw more attention if it popped out a bit.

I would save the buttons as .gif's as they will be much clearer than the .jpg's.
That ani gif could be shrunk to about 8k with a good program.

Yup, I agree with JP use .gifs for your buttons. One thought I had was what about putting some sort of symbol/logo in the blank area when you are not over a button?! Just a thought.

Hi Tim,
As far as getting business from newspaper ads, go ahead and try, but we have had this discussion before in another topic, and as a general rule don't plan on getting rich from your local people unless you have some big businesses in town.
Have been doing web pages for about a year and Friday, I was awarded my first two local sites. One was one that I do all there computer work and didn't even bat an eye at the price I quoted and the other was one that I was asked to bid on and was also given what the bid was from the other company;). I bid a little low, but kinda wanted to stir the natives up;)
and besides the web site has great future potential. Both as fees to myself and as a fairly high traffic site, which I will benefit from in the form of advertising.
