The Web Design School - Review Request

I am starting an online web design school and I would like to get your input on it. The site should be launching officially on July 9th for paying members, but I am allowing everyone to sample it before I start advertising it. The only catch is that I do not have all of the content in place yet, so please don't email me or post messages about all of the content not being there, I know this!

So, if you could go through the site and look at what I do have uploaded already (which I am updating almost daily) and maybe even post some messages on the message board I would really appreciate it.

If you are wondering why I am creating a school it is simple. Other web design schools on the internet do not teach everything you need to know to start a web design business. They teach you Dreamweaver or Frontpage and leave the rest up to you. The way my school differs is that I will teach the students the following topics:

1) Design Basics

2) Graphic Design

3) Web Programming

4) Online Marketing

5) Finding Work

6) Project Management

Plus I am offering resources and a lot more. Enough of me rambling, so please take a few minutes to take a look at the site and either post some messages on my message board, on this message board, or feel free to email me.

Welcome chadhardy

I will have a look at the site and post again shortly, in the meantime we do ask that before your own site is critiqued that you participate in the threads here by looking at others sites and giving feedback to them. You should have some great insights for others given the nature of your site

Hi!

I just visited your site and I think it looks GREAT! The text content is easily understood and navigation is easy to follow. Your color scheme is good, except the red seems a bit bold from your other colors. Good luck with your school!

bksand,
Thanks for the review of my website, sorry it has taken so long for a reply, I am on a vacation/business trip and I haven't had time to check back in on the message boards.

Regarding the red color, I am thinking of making some changes there because of all the feedback I have received on the site that subject gets brought up the most. So since you are the target market for my site I will be sure to listen to what you have to say. I orginally played around with another shade of blue, but it seemed to be too much blue on the site then. Oh, well I well let you know when I get the changes made so you can check it out later.

Make sure you sign up for the newsletter so that you can keep track of whats going on!

Thanks again...

Great presentation, clear wording, breadth of material looks promising. Well done.

Some detailed stuff...

Courses

The hyperlinks at the top go a step too far. The last item on the list should not itself be a link because it is self-referring.

Webprograming - have something on ASP please.

Resources

Be consistent with hyperlink descriptions. I prefer the webhosting style of a named hyperlink with a hidden url, over the design basics design where you display the url.

If you can give it the time, describe each link in 1 or 2 sentences - so I know what's on offer and what you think about it.

Membership

I would have expected membership to give me access to the cream of your tips and maybe some online assistance with stuff - like at a real school. But maybe that's just because of what I am up to at my site. I was disappointed to read that it is just a webspace thing, especially as I think that a web designer would need his/her own address to look credible.

Overall though it looks very promising. On a personal note, I would really appreciate your view on my site - Further improvement needed... .
