Very Basic Ecommerce site LV911.com
There are two versions of the site ... a very old one which is the current site and a newer template that I have been modifying from OScommerce. the original site was a huge fiasco with Java and xml while the newer open gl version is a php/mySQL based one ... the design is pretty basic.
What I am fishing for is suggestions on layout, colors, schemes etc... Be warned that it is an active site with the payment gateway operational. Also any SEO suggestions would be hugely appreciated since I do not have much experience in the coding for it with PHP ...
Once it is flushed out with products and the design changes are fully implemented the URL will be set to run without the "/catalog" portion ...
A little note on it is that I am using a premade open license since the client is rather cheap and an old friend so rather than design from scratch I am adapting other work to fill the need ...
Thanks for all the advice in advance ... (good or bad even)

Well done, I quite like it.
It's easy to navigate - although I suppose that's down to the Shopping Cart program. Colour scheme OK - although it may offend people from other countries who don't like the American theme - I don't know. Make sure you put the apostrphe on the 'Children's' of Children's Wear though - many award sites and things like that take poorly to grammatical errors.
Some September 11th tributes might be nice - maybe near the section wear you thank the services.
On the banner at the top it says 'E-mail us' . I click on it - but no contact page arrives.
That's all the stuff I can think of at the moment. I think I've been a bit negative - it i actually a very good site

Thank you for your observations ... I will see about the the email link (overlooked that one altogether) ... I will talk to the owners and see what we can come up with on the 9/11 stuff ...
THanks again ... very helpful

The images for sale seem to be resized properly, they look awkward to me. Though I enjoy the flag serving as the background for the banner, it seems a little out of place to me the way it is now, as it does not have defined borders, etc. It seems to free flowing, I would prefer a look that confines the banner into a box of some sort. And this may be due to my ignorance, but I am not aware of some of the acronyms in the banner such as ATTF and DEA. Other than that, nice setup.

Thank you ... the acronyms represent special services. ATF = alchohol tobacco firearms, DEA = drug enforcement agency, etc ...
The free float is for multiple screen resolutions. That way it will always arrange itself in the same area more or lesss for the symmetry ... if more people find the floting odd I will consider bordering it to make it more pleasing to the eye ... the thumbnails are auto generated so I have been having some trouble getting them to look right ... I agree they look a little odd ... my problem is that some are longer than wide and vice versa ... hopefully I will find the cure.
thanks for your comments.

Looks pretty good, I like the colors and the layout. I see no problems, besides you need more products. Good job

Thank you ... I am hoping to get the rest of the product list soon so it can go fully live ... right now it is hiding on the server ... without the "/catalog" at the end of the string it would take you to the old version which is somewhat outdated when it comes to the product listing ...

Nice site and good layout.. it gets right to the point.
I would suggest to reducing the header graphic and font size of your title in the body..
But a overall good site..
Good Luck.

First I gotta say.... LOVE those puppets! Sorry, but I HAD to say that.
I think you've done a good job seperating your navigation from the content. I will say that the white text on the light colored background that you're using is a bit hard for me to read.
One thing I might suggest (and this is simply a suggestion)...
Although I think your pictures showing your shops on the front page are nice, there isn't anything that tells me about who you are. Are these products made by Fire fighters, emergency teams and Police? Do the proceeds go to helping these people? Other than the fact that I think the puppets are cute, why should I buy any of these products? (If the profits go to help support the law enforcement and emergency crews, I might be more inclined to buy something)
As far as the thumbnails... I must agree that they don't seem to be looking right. It looks like you are simply showing the full sized image, but forcing it to be 88 pixels wide and 80 pixels tall. Your large images don't always fall into that size pattern and look wrong when reduced to that. Do you have any way to actually save the images as real thumbnails so those can be shown? If not you need to make sure your large images are resized so they will reduce down to 88 x 80.
Best of luck! Looks like you'll have a good store going here!
gotta finish redesigning my sites so I can show them again.
The purpose of education is... to get more jokes!

First I want to thank everyone for the great info and accolades ...
I like the idea of resizing the full size shots to help the thumbnails I think a simple resizing of the white background matting may help to fix that. And the point about the text coloring is a good one ... I will see what I can do to make it more clear ... more products should be showing soon ...
as to the about page I am not sure if the client is donating to the Police and Fire charities but it is a good point ot find out to include ... I do know they are a commercial company for profit though ... I think they have donated in the past but I do not know about the current procedures ...
As to advertising/promoting I have been talking to them about getting some overture going as well as their efforts with selling on ebay auctions some of the products they have ...
Please do keep the suggestions coming as the site will be fully live very soon ... Thanks again to all for your words
