Hello all. I have been busy learning new stuff!

My new site is http://www.BearNotes.com

You will find it is basically only a few pages, + the forums. My intent is to get people in, through the homepage and registered with as little hassle as possible. I want my users to participate in the discussions, not get stopped up on reading my homepage. I am fairly sure the forum is operational as I have already about 30 users (hopefully many more to come as I get the word out).

So basically I would like your opinion as to the layout of the site, colors, etc. And if you think I am meeting my goals as described above. Any ideas, comments or, you know, anything at all is welcome.

I like the bear (but does he have to look quite so grumpy?) and the colours make a nice change. Not really much else to say as the forum looks like a forum and you haven't started off with too many sections which is always good.

Good luck with the site Smiling

Looks good, but there is a lot more you could do to integrate the forums with the front page and therefore draw participants into the forums. For example, you could put a login/register form on the front page. If it's right there and requires no effort people may be more likely to use it. Also put a list of highlighted threads on the front page. Make sure they're good and controversial. Controversial topics are always sure to draw some interest. I think phpBB is a pretty sophisticated system - you should be able to do this. Look around on the help site for more info.

Meagan,

I like that idea, I will see if I can figure out how to do that this weekend.

Thanks!

I dont think the bear looks grumpy Smiling I think it looks good. The integration is good though.

I think maybe maybe make the sign that says browse the forums as a guest a little more noticeable as I didnt notice it at first, and some people may leave before they see it.

Absolutely love the bear image. Maybe change the color tones only SLIGHTLY as the forums seem a little "wishy washy" (great tech term). Keep up the good work and hope the forums take off !

heh, wishy washy... yeah I hear you. But, a friend was nice enough to help out with that, and beggars cant be choosers so it will have to do for now. Thanks though!
