Hi everyone,

Can you please critique my site: http://uglued.com
(sort of an entry page , not much weight is given to that currently)

the most important part is the forum - http://uglued.com/forum/index.php

test user - alice
password - test

Just a little note on the forum - Its a place for Desi (Indian-Asian) to hang out , make friends, talk about Movies, Music, Current Events, Play arcade games, Share photos , create their blogs and so on...

I would love any sort of critique along with suggestions on the contents/sections.. the forum main page / template .. (we have aqua or nblu as the default theme but users can also have a charcoal theme)

If any section is missing or if something is not relevant .. also a bit on SEO and keywords ...

And if the add-ons like bank , lottery , games (arcade) , blogs are too many or too few given the theme of the forum ..

with schools back on , i have seen a significant decrease in traffic .. any help on improving it would be highly appreciated ...

Thank you in advance for any input and taking time to look at my community forum. Smiling

Uh, the forum is great really. I like tThe shoutbox section, which other forums do not have.

It's pretty good. I like the subheading explaining the domain - funny. The graphic behind the log is good too. I think the blue below the nav bars clashes too much and the yellow side bars are a bit bright too.

Forum looks good. Heaps of topics but it looks like there are lots of visitors to fill them.

The text in the middle of the home page is hard to read because the colour is a bit faint. Make it bigger too. It's important because I only know what the site is about from reading that.

The photos on the right that are like poster shots from movies, I would make them bigger and more prominent. They set the theme of the site, which is the same as Bollywood I presume - fun. Therefore you want it to be prominent. I had to strain to make out the pictures but when I did I found them amusing. Hope this helps.

This site is not bad in term of design but the only thing that sticks out as sore is the colour blending of the middle plate at the home page. Also, the letters are too tiny and it really strain the eyes reading through. The colour blend is too poor. if only a bright colour over the "black" background will be considered.

Thank you.

The home page is nice and straight to the point, i like that. I also like the forums design and they seem to be active. Like the other user said the color blending is bad, and i also don't like when you click on the forums page that it opens a new window.

Good Luck!

The page takes a while to load for dial up, the banner alone is 68kb. the first movie review image is 107kb
I was really hoping the middle section would have a lighter image as it's very hard to read and the white links go black on hover. If you use a dark background and dark text (which you shouldn't) you should never use a small font, makes it even harder to read.
What I do in cases like this is to high light all the text so it is easier to read, problem is the text goes white - the same colour as your links

I like the colours of the site (reminds me of a template) but it doesn't fit together to well, the google ads needs to blend in more and the side columns either further apart and higher, the bottoms of each could do with some rounded corners to finish it off.

All your pages, except contact and disclaimer go to your forum.
You say the forum is the most inportant part and also mention school kids, I'm not school aged (in 30's) so may not be into what the younger ones are, but I find the forum hard, the actual forum on 800x600 is over a page down, with the shout box and animated happy DIWALI.
As the main page is black and this is white I have to mention there is no real connection between the two.
There is also a horziontal scroll at 800x600 on the forums, is the donations and ads causing it.
I'm not sure if the page timed out or what but the shout box shows an error that it couldn't connect to database, also some of the backgrounds of the template never showed, I think the threads and posts need a divider, even if only a thin line of colour.
animated links on hover must be a young persons thing Wink

I like the homepage very much, nice design, good color scheme. The text is very tiny and hard to read though.

I don't really comment on forums, since they are sort of 'out of the box'.
