I just wanted to add the I really liked it also, and the flapping seagull was a nice touch on the roll-overs.
Two BIG thumbs way up!

Well I don't often ask for reviews but I thought I would ask for a big favour and get everyone willing to look at www.thefirstresort.com as it is a project I have been involved in over the last few months.
I am aware that there are still many problems (design, new features, better functionality etc) and we hope to get these ironed out over the next month or so.
Anyway, just tell me what you think...
Cheers
JP

It's pretty cute. I like it.
I have no comments. It's too good!

Very Nice indeed!
another thing that is nice is that I finally get to be the one that has the first comments on the critique area as Justin usually beats me to it. Very nice colour scheme, goes well with the topic. The page is fast loading and has a very good layout. You have used frames very well on the special deals page as it integrates with the bottom frame like magic. The only thing I thought was slightly wrong was the font you used at the very bottom of the page seems to blurred. I think maybe it is too small. Also the two small Icons you used for "First Time Here" seem blurred too. Except from that good work JP!!!

I'm so sorry, Vy. I didn't know you treasure the chance to be the first person to reply so much.
I'm so sorry. Please forgive me.

Very good. The color scheme is nice. The only thing that I saw could be fixed is under the search page, the images in the color have a slighter lighter (tongue twister ) background than the table cell. Very slight, hardly noticeable.
On the contact us link, a different box pops up. I've never liked that, what i the browser has javascript turned off? Most browsers have it on, but just something to think.
Your use of frames on the HOT DEALS section is good, but you use a new color! I always though that you should keep the same color scheme throughout the site, but you made it look pretty good, so I dunno.
The flash version is a lot better than the one you have standing, why not make the flash version the default, and as it is loading, offer the user the option to go without the flash. Just an idea.
Hope these little picky things help

I kinda think that there's too much going on here. With a simple cartoonish design like this, I think that you should keep everything simple.
The text on this front page could be stramlined a lot. Most of those headings could do without an explanation - the "first time visitor" page explains all that anyway. Some of the titles along the bottom could be streamlined as well (ie. "Privacy Policy" instead of "View our Privacy Policy"). Actually, what I would do is get rid of those dark blue and yellow bars on the front page and just have the cloud background and graphic navigation (maybe add a row of text links for people with slow connections).
I would also think about making this 640 x 480 compatible. Looking for travel information seems to be a common thing for average joe's to do on the 'net, so it's probably a good idea to keep your site open to as many types of visitors as possible. I also think that people should be able to use the resort guides to some extent without having to use a plug-in.
The about us, privacy policy, terms of use etc. links should appear on every page - I think this is important stuff that should be available anytime a visitor wants to take a quick look before booking a holidy.
Flash Version - that's what I was talking about with streamlining the navigation. I would still get rid of the dark blue and yellow bars though. There seems to be too much going on here too, IMO. Get rid of the animation with the phone numbers and explanation text across the top.

Very nice! Some of the pages loaded a bit slow. Hard to tell why, but some of the images look a bit big.
I agree about the Flash version, however there is some middle ground between the two. Have you thought about integrating some flash with the HTML version? That would allow for some of the exciting effects without the full size Flash file size.
Good luck,

Well sorry that I disapointed everyone by not being the first to post, but I had a baseball game. Here we go...
1) Very nice! I think the cartoonish look goes great with the theme of the site. Good job.
2) I don't really like the flying seagul, because a) it's too small, and b) it doesn't look right. I'd either s**** the image flip idea or think of something else. Or maybe not, I'm really searching for something to say
3) I'd keep the same color BG on each page.
4) Ever considered 640x480 resolution viewers? It's a dang pain to have to scroll left and right.
Overall I like it.

My main feeling is that I LOVE VECTOR GRAPHICS! I love illustration, I love original looks. I actually voluntarily looked at the flash version (what's that tell you?!)
I don't think it is cartoonish, though I have to admit that I consider that word to be an insult. I think it is a very nice use of vector and illustration art. I had an immediate sense of trust of the company, which is also rare.
I would suggest a clearer aliased font for the fine print if you are going to use images, and it is a little odd that the Flash and HTML are different sizes.
Nice piece of work on the surface, I didn't delve past the second level.

Thanks all.
The sight is slow loading sometimes because of the complicate backend work (searching through millions of holidays for one!)

Wow! It is really nice! I like it, a lot. On the button it says: "Call us ON 0870etc etc." I thought it should be "Call us AT 0870etc etc." I LOVE the sub pages too! Great job!

I viewed the site at 800 x 600, and perfect, but at 640 x 480, it was too wide. I agree with that it is very cool, but it is just a bit too busy. Try making the pics just a smidget smaller. The ball spinning kind of annoyed me after a little bit and I noticed it wasn't the best animation. The site really, really looks good though.
the 360º image thing was neat. That was the only other page that I looked at besides the flash one, which I liked. On the image, I figured out how to spin it around and around and around real fast...hehe
