Have you looked at your site in v4.x browsers?

The scrolling text in the left column is annoying and it looks like you've set it to a percentage width, so the text is overlapping/not displaying properly at 800x600.

The image001.gif ("Your online source for recipes") is extremely jagged looking.

I would lose the animated anbird1.gif. Doesn't really contribute.

The "contact us" button drops to a second line at 800x600.

You should have a level of navigation that doesn't force one to go back to the home page and start over or have to use
their "back" button.

Don't underline headers or things that aren't links. People expect underlined words to be links.

Randomly picked a page... You have a chowder recipe whose main ingredient is canned soup. Honestly, if I wanted to serve doctored canned soup, I wouldn't be searching recipe sites, there are usually several variations of how to do that printed on the back of the can.

Your food images are fuzzy and unappetizing looking. Sorry, but for a recipe site you really need to have pics of food that looks appetizing. I'd be outta there in a second if I was looking for recipes.

P.S. Pepperoni is not a vegetable, nor an acceptable ingredient in a vegetarian dish.

Its a very busy site in IE (excuse the pun)

in IE you have "Recipe of the Month" scrolling up faster than you can read it, you need a stop, more, view it here fnction or something, the same as the "Articles".

The fonts used for "Recipe bank" and "your online source .." I think are wrong for this type of content, espically the "your online source" one with the drop shadow.

the animated birdie is very distracting

At first I was lost, I was looking for a recipe index or something, I didnt realise the pictures where links to recipes, maybe add a text link or sitemap.
where would I find cakes?

I could add some, but the ones I'd like to share dont fit under any of the topics you have, they would be cakes and ontrays (however spelt). i clicked on "add a recipe" but got file not found

in Netscape4.7, the recipe of the day is fixed and has a "more" option, perfect, but the articles is still scrolling up at an annoying rate.

your poll, for light meals, is popcorn a meal? how about having a results link?
in netscape they line up with the select boxs, in IE the bottom one doesnt.

that "place your ad here" is a really annoying graphic

one thing that i later thought about, how universal would these ingredients be? first recipe I looked at lists yeast packets, I know we can buy yeast here in NZ but am not sure they come in packet sized servings, yeast here comes in bags.

A while back I shared my grans famous banana cake recipe to some friends in USA, they didnt know what half the things were. maybe have a conversion table or something.

found a few mistakes on some recipes, heres one on "French Bread Poupon" you have:
Ingredients:
/2 cup margarine or butter, softened
1 (16-inch loaf French bread, split lengthwise
no end ")" above, maybe use a metric conversion as well, is 16in the length of a keyboard, maybe a little less?

i'm sure it should be 1/2 ?
then under "method" you have:
Broil 4 inches from heat ...

broil is a sort of cooking isnt it?

Welcome to TWF, can you help us out by reviewing some of the other sites in this part of the forum. This not only helps others but it'll give you some ideas as well.

I too get a 404 error. Can you let us know when this is resolved please and I'll look again.

You definitely need to work on your graphics & logo.

Tidy up the layout and don't use banners unless they are good quality ones.

As said before none of the pictures of the food made me want to cook it! Get decent photos or the site will always look amateurish.

hi worked this time when i looked at it overall i found it pretty easy to navigate. and all.

on the front page the image that says your online source for recipies i found that very scratchy and kinda an eye sore,
the recipies scrollers are a good idea and descent if you can i would probably switch those over to flash tho, the java tends to move uneven and be kinda jumpy.

from the main pages to the meat index page the size of your top banner frame and sides got off a bit as they move from the page change

load time was pretty good
<-56k ie 5.5

no problems there
saw some gramattical errors in the recipies
and maybe you could have some kind of cooking help section as a couple of the things i didnt know ie browning flour,
im a guy but i do know how to cook and i did not know what chapati was.

but i like the site and will be checking back for more recipies.

I do not use netscape nor care if my stuff works or doesnt in it.

I'm finding this design to be rather weak. The colour scheme is blah, the logo is blah, the layout is blah. It's just not catching my interest. Try to come up with a stronger colour scheme and a better logo. Maybe try to find a food related symbol to use in the logo like a box of recipe cards or something like that. And I agree with webmistress about the photos - they look like they came out of this old cookbook I have from 1972.

Now, I'm seeing a lot of terms on here that are unfamiliar to me. Is a lot of this Indian food? As a North American it seems strange to me to see a site in english that seems to be concentrating on Indian food without making that clear at the outset. I mean, most people would probably come to a site like this expecting it to be mainly "normal" food (whatever they consider to be normal) and may become confused when they see all these unfamiliar terms. You might want to think about making the Indian connection more clear. (like "your online source for Indian recipes" instead of just "your online source for recipes").

I think that concentrating even more on Indian food might be a good idea in terms of marketing - there are a lot of other recipe sites out there, so you might be more successful if you concentrate on one type of cooking. You could also offer articles and advice for people who are new to Indian cooking. I would be interested in something like that.
