Hi! The following is a link to the site that lists all my websites. I'd love comments and suggestions on any of them, on content, look, html, ect. Please choose one that seems interesting to you to critique:

Welcome to Webmaster-Forums, ecaria. We ask for new visitors to this site to help us review 3 other sites before their site is reviewed.

The site is a little bit too basic. Here are some things that I would do to improve it.

  • Paragraphs - are great but to achieve proper layout on a site, you need to learn how to use tables.
  • Colors - the background color of your site and the text don't really go well together. I always prefer a white background with a dark text, myself. This is another advantage to using tables. You can have a background color and have the table a different color.
  • Identification - where am I, when I am on your site. There is no navigation bar or logo to identify your site. That makes it easy to forget.

Thanks for the suggestions. Which of my sites did you look at? (The link was just the index...so that people could choose one of the other sites listed and critique one of them). What browser are you viewing it from? Thanks.

And I thought I was busy, you've certainly got a few sites there.

I looked at a few of your sites quickly and noticed you like black and green.

none of your pages have a theme, a feel to them, dark backgrounds are hard to use on serious subjects (note all microsoft, amazon, ebay etc use white).

your main page has the poll, but it looks messy as the table is to small for the words, try maybe use smaller text or shorter sentences. I've always wondered what site owners think when they place a poll like yours on the site, you have lots of pages with lots of interesting things, I wouldnt remember which page this poll was on, nor which one I liked best.

but I think you need lighter colors and a theme, you mention at the top the meaning of yoru name, go with that.

the page you gave us makes it look like all the links are seperate sites, but most are part of only a few sites, I think you need to group the similar ones together, make them into one site with a theme, and same with the others and if you want make a totally seperate page (like you gave us) as a general site map type thing with a seperate theme again, use lighter colors, logos, etc

Thanks agian. I see what you mean about the poll. I think at the time I put it up i was just wondering which sites peopel were visiting most (and I hadn't gotten a counter which separated all the geocities sites...it's been a while since I changed that poll and I really need to). Orignially I had another pol about philosoplies there.

I must say, I'm rather tied to the colors, though. I'm frankly tired of all the sites with a white background. . Personal preference, I guess.

I like your idea of grouping the sites.

Thanks for your in-put!

you can still keep the colors you like, just maybe use them in a way that reflects the contents more, make a top/side interface (colored) with faded to white content area, or a tabled layout with dark green cells with black headers etc

your only limited by your imagation (and the police as I found out Laughing out loud) hehe just kidding

YOu've certainly got the conetnet here, now, if you're serious, you need to work on your design skills. I agree that you should consolidating all of these mini-sites into one bigger one. Go around and look at other sites and see what they're doing. Try http://www.coolhomepages.com

A couple of things you'll notice:

  • Logos are important. They provide your site with identity and character.
  • Colour schemes are important for the same reason
  • Tabled layouts allow you to take advantage of the horizontal space on a page as well as the vertical
  • tables also enable you to fit more information on a pge, which reduces vertical scrolling. Remember that websurfers are lazy. They don't want to scroll. They don't want to "click" more than they have to.
  • Navigation bars are important. They enable people to get around your pages easily

I disagree in this case. I think that dark colours are suited to the site topics here. When you're trying to be business-like or trying to sell somebody something it's hard to use anything other than white. When you're trying to entertain people a little or provide some drama you can get away with other colours. She's not trying to be business-like. I'm getting an impression of mysticism and fairy tales from these sites which I wouldn't get if the background was white.
