Steve's Blue Ridge Snaps
I made a small change in the home page, on my website. Take a look, and tell me what you think. I know it works in Exp. 6.0, and Firefox. Sombody try it with another browser and see. It takes a few seconds to pre-load, so don't leave to quick.

I just went around the web applying for different ones. This one responded, I think it's for their link, of course. But it is a 4 PR boost link to me. Now if I win the golden web award, that is something else again, IF IF IF??.
# So you think the slide show bit is not to corney?.

Wooh, that is one slow loading page, over 300kb taking over 2 mins on dial up.
While the animated image is a nice idea (you need to add width and height elements) it is very impratical as it has to load fully before the rest of the content loads, especially the link buttons, normally I would of switched images off so the page would load and I could see the rest of the site.
Web awards are gimmicks, all they are, are returned links. If you want some web awards go to my html site, I have a page of free one, nothing to enter, nothing to do but take them and use them - thats how easy they are to get.
Oh displays in Opera same as Mozilla

I liked the examples of bad web pages. Especially the 2 hr. Billgates picture thing. I really saw a page once, where a guy had 6 or 7 pictures on it. They were about twice as wide as my 800 screen, and 3 times as high. I fell asleep before it loaded, and I'm on 3 mb cable.
Thats why I really needed to know about dial up, I kinda thought that would be the way it would be. Oh yeah I also liked catch the link page, that was entertaining.

Well after finding out about the long delay in loading, for those on dial-up. Getting lots of views but few comments; I always look at this two ways. 1 - The had nothing to say about it, either good or bad, 2 - They just plain didn`t like it.
But like people with lots of money, I did not remember what it is to be on dial-up. With 3 meg cable connections, the last thing you worry about is down-load time. So I went back to the original page layout, after all I guess more people are still on dial-up, than on broad-band.

Well the slideshow is not corney, it adds up light to the site but adds up quite a bit of a delay in your loading time compared as before...(I didnt notice the delay yesterday coz I was on DSL) now im on dial-up just to try out again, and it quite loads up poorly... Guess what you could adjust the size as mentioned or better yet make a javascript for doing a slideshow (or maybe dhtml) so when the page loads, it loads fast while loading the first three images the other images will be loaded in the background...(making it in GIF makes it load the whole image first before it starts the show)
