Splash Page on nicora.com
It would seem that the general consensus is "splash pages are evil", but I would like some feed back on my new splash design.
thx...

Nice artwork but that's about it IMO. It doesn't say what the site is about and will not help with search engine ranking and may take a while to actually load on a slower connection. Therefore my opinion is it's a waste of time.

OUCH!
But, yeah, you're right...
The intention, although is not to rank high in search engine's (type nicora in google, though) it's to point selected probable clients to it. And when I launch my full site, it wont be compatible with NN4, on PURPOSE!
It's also not to explain what I do .I have an extremely heavy client load, and I don't see an end to it. It's instead intended to express my creativity, and that is too difficult to express in clean tags and meta tags.
I really just want a critique on the artwork.
"The Webmistress", I know there's more to you than "Index ranking's". Let me know what you think.
Thanks...

comment on artwork....not bad. I almost looks like my hand might get wet if I touch the computer screen.
There is one part of the art that looks as though it was cut off though. The part that I am referring to is just above that second circle from the left. If you need a screenshot of what I am talking about I will throw one up. Other than that....looks good.
Not sure what you plans are for this....are you going to add any thing else to this page? IMO--that white, blank section would be a great place to put a keyword-packed paragraph. That would fix you search engine troubles and fill that blank space as well.

ALso have some sort of "enter here" link - a lot of people can get confused when they don't see something like that.
I think that the artwork here is well done but I personally don't like it all that much. It gives me a cold feeling. It kind of reminds me of post modern artwork and it doesn't give me the impression of practicality. If I was a client I'd be looking for a web designer that would be able to consider my practical business needs first. That's just my 2 cents
Oh, and the graphic isn't lining up with the background in Opera

Thanks for the heads up Megan. I had to put "marginheight="0" marginwidth="0"" in the body tag, how weird. Nevertheless, opera is becoming a better browser every version. But they have a long way to go before catching Mozilla 1.0 32 bit (http://download.com.com/3000-2229-10117878.html?tag=lst-0-1)
Thank you all for the comments, I realize that not everybody will like it
*sigh*
I guess that's the life of an artist, can't make everyone happy.

Hmm... what's it called? "Steel Toothpaste"?
Nice work. It adds a new meaning to "splash" page.

you realise if you make it work in opera6 (as opera6) your making it work for NS
i like the blue design part but dont like the white circles, they kind of cut it up and ruin the flow. but i guess its art and under the heading "art" there arent any rules.
As art work, very good -yes,
As theme/splash page/site graphic - no
and also takes a lil while to load on 56k (on IE)

I think it looks great, but also looks unfinished. When it finally stopped loading (I would not have waited if I was not reviewing it) I was looking into the gap thinking 'shouldn't there be a menu there?'. Then went moving the mouse over the little circles thinking that would make the rest of it appear.
Anyway that could be a great page, just needs to be finished.
