Just thought i'd get some opinions on a site that I helped out with.

Whatsonext.com

It's a TV discussion forum. Chatting about the latest TV shows.

Opinions and suggestions are welcome. Comments about design and increasing membership are appreciated. And you're welcome to join if you want.

i'm considering adding some red or maroon accents to some of the buttons and graphics. Subtle, but just enough to show some color on the site.

Thanks in advance Smiling

Wow, the site looks really nice.
Your Web site pieces together really well and the navigation looks simple and easy to use. Good idea to include a small "back" button at the top of the page. It's obvious that it will be useful.

Yes, I do suggest you go ahead and add some maroon to the layout. At the moment it is rather bland.

Thanks for reviewing some other sites!

Looks really nice on first glance. I think that you should try adding some more colour to the header. It's got a cute retro look but the grey colour scheme is really washing it out. For the navbar, remove the outder buttons with the arrows and make the other ones wider. That way you can make the font size a little bigger and more readable.

Soemthing seems to be wrong with your forum headers in Opera. I'm getting a darker grey line that goes across under the text. It jumps over the bullet to the left and runs into some more diagonal lines on the right. Doesn't look like it's supposed to be there.

One last thing - the font for your logo looks good but it should be anti-aliased so you don't have those jagged edges. Your graphics program should have an option to turn that on and off. Let us know which program you're using and we can help you fix that. Also adjust the kerning a little so the "h" is closer to the "W". Actually, what I see there is "W hatsOnext" which is hard to read. Make it "What's on Next". No need to be clever.

Looking at your list of forums - why are some shows designated as full forums but others are subforums? Seems like you have a bias towards some that you like or something. Maybe you could make your front page really simple with forums for just your main sections and then use subforums under that. Your main page would be really clean and then expand further. One of the forums I visit regularly is set up sort of like this.

I agree with Megan on the navbar and logo. Also the black arcs (semi circle) thingies half way down the forums look out of place, imo. A bit more color would help too. Overall though it looks well. Good job!

The things I would stress the most are the semi-circles, enlarging the menu font and adding more color. Maybe the best place for a different color would be the section headers. I really like the overall site design, though.

I replaced about half of the graphics with a blue/green/gray color.

Hopefully it gives the site a little more kick.

I got rid of some of the black to simplify the overall design.

Logo still needs a lot of work. I'll try to hammer that out in the next week or two.

Thank you for all your advice so far Smiling
