Site review please
I build a site http://www.hahanetwork.com trying to make some money on net, my plan is to make a lot of traffic first then go from there.
The way to make traffic, I plan to get many high traffic web sites link together to generate traffic.
My English is poor and I have NO web skills, the site took me 10 months to develop is still a mess, a friend from spider-food-forum suggest me looking for help in this forum.
Please review my site and let me know how you feel about it, any thing you point out will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Joe

Personally I think you're going about this the wrong way. Your process seems to be:
1. I want to make money
2. build a site
3. get traffic
4. go from there
The problem is that you've completely left out the step of coming up with a good idea. It's fine to want to make money, but in that case your process should be more like:
1. I want to make money
2. Get a good idea and corporate identity
3. Build site
4. get traffic
and so on...
Actually, before step 2 it would be best to first come up with a good business plan. How, exactly, are you going to do this? Many, many dot-com companies have failed. You have to ask yourself why that is.
You also have to remember that competition is tough. In order to succeed you have to either do something totally unique or do something better than the competition.
Your site has absolutely no corporate identitity here. YOu need a logo and a colour scheme. Something to catch the eye and make people take you seriously. If I happened to come across this site I'd wonder if it's a joke - "We are building the biggest corporation on Earth". Really... bigger than Microsoft, Coke, Nike, and all the others ???

I think Megans right in what she says but maybe in this economic climate maybe it should be
1. Get a good idea and corporate identity
2. Build site
3. get traffic
4. do something here
5. do something more here.
6. do even more here
...
...
...
99. think you might be able to make some money because you've made a great idea into a great site that has lots of traffic.

I got 10 hits today, it might takes a little longer to get a lot.
Almost a year ago in a drunken night when I was chatting in a domain name issue board, I heard a voice in my head, telling me to buy all the haha domain names I can get. And I did, basted my brother's credit card.
I grew up in a Christian family, my mind is always hunger for truth and mystery, in this mighty awesome Internet jungle, how can I build a personal highway?
A dream was born, and I was sold.
I like to make each haha domain a great site, helpful or even profitable, I like to use the group domains to build a some kind of kingdom, stand out above the rest of dotcoms.
I check around, looking for a leader.
How true a true story could be?
That's about it, my cyber friends.

Try to make my site like a junction that link to many sites from different fields, or try to build each domain into a site, SEO all sites and link them in a junction to generate traffic together.
Look forward for any input, thanks.

Here's an idea for you - list e-commerce sites from all over the web along with information about where they ship to, what their shipping rates are, and what currency they use. I always have a hard time shopping online because I never know if a site can ship to me or not, and most of them don't say so in any kind of obvious way.
Or, with the "haha" name you could focus on humour - links to humour sites of different genres, jokes, cartoons, comedy TV shows and movies, related merchandising etc.

well, i think u need to take the haha and the .com off of each of the links because none (that i clicked on) lead to another haha domain, they link to other sites. minus the haha and .com it would be easier for visitors to find a subject link they're looking for.

Put all the input together, mix with my own, made a plan, please give it a thought and upgrade.
Since I can't build no site, better just rent domains.
Find a decent site from each major category to become hahabusiness.com partner and build a mirror site under a related haha domain. In this way, we could dramatically cut down our partners promotion cost, or multiple promotion result. For example, we do a simple TV commercial it says" When many dotcoms falling down, we are the new stars----hahaTOYs.com, hahaGAMEs.com, hahaPETs.com......" .
Better yet, all sites are ready to go, change name and logo, put a public header, that's about it.
Good, bad, problems, possibilities, any thing you point out will be much help.
Thanks.

joec,
I recall your posting your site at another site review forum where a mod described your site as a "link farm" that could possibly harm anyone signing up for it as spamming in the eyes of search engines.
You then proceeded to harvest emails from members' profiles at that board and sent "invitations" to sign up for your service. (I know, because I got one of them.)
Please, lay down the crack pipe and don't repeat this sequence.

My first thought when seeing the domain was 'OMG it's to do with the haha/snow white virus'. I take it you're not but anyone who ever got that email (I get it at least twice a week still!!) may think twice about going to your site.
I really do not see how you are going to get rich with this. Sorry to sound negative but there are so many sites out there that unless you come up with a unique idea and either get people to pay to be listed or have a major advertising strategy I don't see how you are going to make money with your idea. Where are you based? If you are thinking of making any money with your idea it would have to really be global and that would cost a fortune to advertise internationally on TV!!
You also need to start thinking seriously about the SEO stuff if you want to succeed at anything. First start off by thinking about your title, that needs to be descriptive and not just HaHa Network.

The Webmistress,
Thank you for your post, I live in Carbondale, IL.
The only unique idea to me is to own a group of haha domans, buildings may change but land is always there.
Time will be much help, when more people know more websites use haha domains, type-in traffic should increase.
If I can find one decent site from each major category to become our partner, each pay for 1% TV commercial cost to have targeted traffic send to their sites, also SEO every site at a discount group cost, how is the chance to make it?
How's hahabusiness.com for the main site sounds? Any other names could be better? hahainternet.com? hahafranchise.com?
Hope to hear from you soon, thank you again.

I should probably elaborate on that a little. I think that this is going to be a difficult thing to do. You have to ask yourself why a well established, quality site would want to be part of your network. What's in it for them? Traffic? Prove it. Why would they want to change their established branding to match your network? They'd have to be pretty desprate for traffic to buy into such a risky sounding concept.
Another problem I see with this is the whole idea of "haha" - it doesn't sound very respectable at all. It sounds like a joke to me. If I received an e-mail from you asking my site to be a part of this network I would probably be pretty skeptical. Makes me think of Nelson on the Simpson's with his "ha ha", just making fun of people.
You don't have a quality site or a quality branding concept. Start there.

Can't prove it yet, they keep their own branding and site, but use the same resource to build a new haha site, not very risky, the most is a little set up fee, they have a lot to aspect, more traffic and a new site under haha branding.
I hope I have a group of generic domains, or e something group domains, but in reality all I can get is haha. It really sounds funny, but hopefully when people find out each haha site is a cool site the branding will build.
I have to find business partners first, I have no money, no skill, some domains and a pipe dream, please help me more.

Is it haha we first say, or gaga ?
You've tried to explain your dream here on the forums but you really need to explain it better on your site, first impressions is a spam page for a porn site. the other day when i loked at this site (had connection problems, couldnt reply) I noticed you had normal links, like aol.com, microsoft.com, hotmail.com etc but notice you've changed them now.
If I have read your dream.htm page right, you will give me the use of one of your haha names in exchange for promotion for 6 six months (maybe permanent possible if the earnings are high enough).
If you can pull this off, then cool, but I really think your on the wrong side of the dream, example: It only costs 5.99 to register a domain name, I'd advertise or whatever and reap 100% profit and know I wont have the name pulled out from under me for all my hard work with search engines, designing, getting it known ... etc after 6 months if I didnt make a profit. I know your not in the situation to do this but I think youd have to offer money and visitors to pull this off, pay per visitor kinda thing.
As for the actual layout, everypage opening in a new window is really annoying, and the aol email address doesnt look to professional.
good luck

Busy,
In real life I am a hippie, a dreamer and drunker, s atreet poet and a midnight dancer in local bars, I really don't even know how to set up my email address right, thought of to offer free email for all my domains though.
I think 1% of a great business is much better then 100% of any lousy business. To build a group of successful business have to corporate with a group of experts-in this case-great webmasters.
I have no clue how to manage a business by my own, I need leaders in every major field to make my dream a global success.
If you like my basic concept, hope we can discuss some posibilities, I really need a CEO to incharge the whole thing.
Thanks
Joe

Rome wasnt built in a day, experts built the titanic ...
but I honestly think you havent thought about this concept in great enough details. You need to also think of the negatives with the postives, have a back up plan, a plan b.
The net is flooded with links to other sites, flooded with help sites, e-commerce sites etc and the dot com crash has proved this. I still believe there is a dollar to be made on the net but how, where and at what expense is the mystery, and remember you have to spend money to make money 99% of the time.
you say your a hippy, dancer, poet etc why not use that to your advantage, example: how many clubs, pubs, hotels etc have web sites in your area? how many have functions or atractions happening weekly or daily? how many of those that have sites list these? how many of these sites are easily found?
And to relate this to your idea you could make a whos-who in your local area, do the ground work, approach these business, offer your idea of doing a whos-who, sell them advertising space but be careful, your just starting out so dont offer the world when you cant deliver, maybe start out small, start with pet shops, list there stock, phone them weekly if they agree to find out what they have etc, even offer this service for free while you work out the bugs for the bigger companies.
but remember you have to deliver what you offer, every company needs advertising and some pay big bucks for it but they want value for money.
remember your only limited by your imagination - unless the police say otherwise

Can we put up few heads together to make a business plan and hit for venture capital?
With some capital and web pros the chance will be much better.
My part is the domains and a concept, the rest parts waiting for risk takers to join, I will be fare to share, any ideas will be greatly appreciated.
About build any sites by my own, no way, I don't have the talent nor intereste.
I spent most time to think and research, how traffic goes around, how to control it and multiple it, great sites are easy to find, steedy traffic is hard to make. When a site listed on top listings of major engines, its traffic reaches a limit, if we can link those sites together, we should be able to multiple traffic for each site.
I think this case is different, we are not build one good site but a big group, to maxmize benefit by share resources among each site is the key.
Anyway, it's great to exchange some thoughts here, thank you all and thank internet.
It's very lucky to live in this generation not another, Internet made the world smaller and better faster.

I hope you don't mean "sexy" in the literal sense of the word here!
The internet has definitely improved my life, for sure. One of the big things is, as you said, making the world a smaller place. I am now much more aware of other parts of the world on a daily basis. Without the internet it's so easy to just think within your own geographical area. Unfortunately I don't think everyone gets this. Having instant access to any kind of information I want is pretty darned cool too
Your idea may be a good one - I don't think it's an entirely unique one - lots of sites have grouped together to form networks for the same reasons you've mentioned (directing traffic to each other). You said that "the rest parts waiting for risk takers to join" - I don't think that you can just sit back and wait. You have to give them something to start with - branding, some sort of web presence, a business plan etc. etc. You have to figure out how you're going to overcome the mistakes all those now defunct "dot-com's" made. I also think that you have to recognize that this is not going to be easy. I think that's the problem that a lot of dot-com's had - people thinking that they could just get on the web and easily make money.
Personally, I wouldn't want my site to be associated with something called "ha ha" unless it was on a humorous topic. I don't know about the others here but from what you've said in this thread it would be pretty hard to convince me to join your network.

Dear Megan,
Sexy is very sexy.
I believe Internet is the most power tool to improve life, witness beauty and extend love. Intenet gives people a greater chance to want and to give. It's more than cool, it's my God.
My ideas, I think the best part is to own a group of haha domains, so easier to control, yes there are bunch sites link to each other to share traffic, but they don't have the same brand and their links are not as effictive as we can make. Most dotcoms fell for they don't make money, we pick succeful small dotcoms to unite into bigger success, we can use all partner's resources to make a lot of advantage over other dotcoms. HaHa is the sound of laughter, in Asia and some other countries it means more like sound of happy laughter. I believe it's not too hard to make people visited our future haha sites to feel haha business is the place to go, cus it has good product and service to make them happy--so haha.
I like to invite you and whoever you need to help me build this dream, basic principle is we never sell any haha domains, and we give our webmaster partners fare share(most) of the future profits, the rest of the profit you and I 50/50.
Please give it a seriously thought, traffic is power, we have good chances to grow traffic, and use that traffic to attract more traffic, we can help a lot of webmasters, and we can help to improve the world with our future traffic.
I have an email to share, got it this morning, pretty happy.
Hi,
I've read you're post on the ??-messageboard and I like you're idea very much! I would like to join with a site already up and running. It's called ????.com (500 hits a day). It uses DMOZ as search dbase and other subjects are from subportal.
If you accept my site I will change the title to the HAHA-????name. I would like to join with the domain HAHA????.COM.
Kind regards,
sender
Anyway, I am all for my dream, it's more than money, it's challenge, it's fun. But I am as lonely as hell, waiting for any feedback, thanks all.

Thoughts for upgrade:
1. Need make rules for the network, like no porn involved, no pup windows etc.
2. Need to redesign the site for better performance, maybe a chat board for all interested webmasters to make suggestion and discussing.
3. Need to make sure what we do and how and who do it.
???
Wish you happy.

Are we on top of the list again?
Thoughts to share:
1. First we need a guy who knows better how to build a great network, laws, resources etc.
2. Someone knows how to get investors will be cool.
3. We could even let cool site owners to use our domains for free as long the site is cool and rules were followed, like make money in their own field, keep our public header up, improve their sites to be competitive etc. The traffic they send in is our profit, we can use it to build other kind of profit. For example, build traffic generator like my VIP Room concept etc. Since we may have huge traffic in the future, and we not let porn sites in our network, so we can make some money from type-in to our unlisted sex domains etc. I suggest that 90% of the sex money we donate to save the children org and party out the rest.
4. When everyone eye on making money, we eye on help many webmasters to make money, therefor chances are greater.
???

I just can't atop thinking, more thoughts, hope you don't mind, in real life I am a shy person, you know.
I remember a story, there was a shoe company send a marketer to South Africa, he get out the air plan and send a telegraph back home "No way, no body wear shoes here." The second salesman however made a big success, his first telegraph "Great, no one has shoes to wear down here, go ahead ship me all the sandals you can get"
I thought to compare Internet and real world, can we build a shopping mall and a holiday inn, a park and a theater, a school and a hospital, a library and a chess board, etc., etc., all together in a cyber space, and make that space right under every mouse.

Designed a new site in my head, please give it a thought and feedback, thanks.
hahainternet.com
Simple font, happy faces around the border.
Text---Home of happy surfer---100 useful sites and still growing
Main parts:
E-commerce
Places
Interesting
When click a part it pops a list of links, when click a link it goes to hahaautos.com etc.
All e-commerce sites use the same template, example:
hahaauto.com
text--autos information center
Main content:
Best deal--list best deals on net--affiliates?
Best sites--list good sites--affiliates?
Useful links--link exchange?
Sponsor links--income?
Message board--important part to be sticky.
Thoughts:
Design a public template, hire webmasters to fill up and update each site's content, work for future income?
SEO each site and promote few sites and see how it goes.

If you think Internet is about how to use the least effort to make the most money, here's my new plan.
Forward a domain to a related partner site, trade a link back to hahanetwork.com, from there list all domains each forward to a partner site.
Why they want to trade a link? Increase traffic.
Any feedback?
In this way I don't have misleading links right?

Dear Webmaster,
Your site is listed high on major search engines, that's why we contact you and offer you a chance in a life time.
Do you like to double your targeted traffic over night at no cost at all? How about 10 times more traffic?
No, this is not magic, it is science, not too hard to understand.
We have 100 unique domain names each covers a major e-commerce category, hahasex.com, hahapets.com, hahawebdesign.com etc.
We redirect our 100 domains to 100 related top traffic sites, and have them all send their traffic to our site http://hahanetwork.com.
From there, traffic will be multipled by many times, turned to targeted traffic back to 100 partner sites.
To put this link near to your logo is the only way to join us: http://Home of Happy Surfer
You have but 24 hours to miss this offer, good luck.
Sincerely,
King of the Net

Joe,
Looks good, could use some minor revision. Have you heard of thumbnails? They are used primarily in the porn industry where a consumer would click on a categories they liked and it would then send them to a page that listed 100 or so domains. This is similar to what you are offering so what you need to do show how your works better, or if it offers something different how that difference is better.
Since I enjoying working with you on a no formality basis, I will continue to offer you advise and anything I can do. I have to however refer you to my private email address at [email protected] please send all correspondence from now on to this email. I will get back to you on this revision but it is Monday and I'm swamped. You will hear back though, soon. Have a nice day. xxx

There was a guy who likes to chase apple, till apple hits his head.
I thought to use one free page provided by my domain register to make some kind of games that you have to chase another domain to find the next move etc. I thought to use every domain to make part of a long story.
I get over to less think about how to make money, but my mind is hardly rest from chase traffic-gravity in INternet.
Beyond all of the regular methods that we know, there must be some way to generate traffic, is that the golden key?
What I see so far is no matter how you get traffic, it comes and goes, traffic cloning might be the answer.
A traffic cloning factory is needed, as I said 13 months ago, you better run a shopping mall junk yard.

Need a big favor.
Can anyone help me design a banner, about 1/4 inch high by 1.5 inch long, like an arrow, text=recommend a site, link=hahanetwork.com, about 3 colors to choice from.
I plan to write an email and send to sites that are list on top 3 in major category at goto and googol, ask them to put my banner trade for a haha domain redirecting link. The deal is I redirect my domains to their sites first, one by one till I have at least 50 sites are agreed to join, then at a certain date have all sites put up my banner.
Any thoughts are appreciated.

No matter how you think about my network, I have but one way to go.
This following sales letter is my best writing, hope you be kind help me to edit it, and suggest me where and how to send it out for better chance, thank you.
Dear Webmaster:
Your site is beautiful and useful, that's why I contact you and offer you a chance to gain more market share.
I have 100s unique domain names that each covers a major e-commerce or interesting category.
I redirect my domains to related top quality websites from my site, and have them put this text link on their sites to send visitors to my site: Recommend a site
At my site, all input traffic will be multiplied by many times, turned to targeted traffic back to each partner's site.
Ideally, all involved websites will gain targeted traffic also gain popularity together.
There is no contract needed, if you like my invitation, simply put my link up and email me, including your URL and the haha domain of you choice, I will redirect that haha domain to your site within few hours.
If you don't see the benefits that you like in the near future, just simply take my link down to end this partnership.
Any questions and suggestions are greatly appreciated, thank you and have a nice day.
Sincerely,
Joe Chang

Best wishes and good luck with this interesting endeavor.

Dear Jack:
Appreciate your link, I already redirect hahaapparel.com to your site, it might take 24 hours to be active.
Just wonder could you put a "Recommend a site" link on your home page, as all partners should do the same to maximize the returning traffic.
Got to let you know, you are the first one jump in this venture, this means a lot to me, if you are interested in help me to manage this network for 50% future profit, hope we can discuss some details.
Thank you again, have a great day.
Sincerely,

Divide the links to your redirect sites into five or six categories.
Name the links what they will go to, not what the name of the redirect site is.
Have a counter on each redirect site to measure popularity.
Select what site you want to begin work on.
Because of your "haha" theme, employ some humor on your sites that you decide to really work on.
Good luck.

Thanks for your post, that's great idea.
However I chcnged my mind, I want to build recommendAsite.com first, may give up hahanetwork.com.
Thanks again, if you like, check out this link.
