Site critique. UK Homes 4 You
Hi all
I have had my website online since January this year, we are getting a steady stream of visitors but no customers as yet. I need to find out where this site is going wrong, whether it is the layout, content or pricing.
The actual website design is a template I purchased. All comments will be greatfully received.
Thank you
Andrea

oh, dear... you paid for the design? brutal
the placing of content is always important. for example, i clicked on prices:
- immediately i see that i have to scroll down to see the prices; bad
- identifying each area(London/Oxford,Scotland) is harder when ALL the text are the same color; bad
all the navigation and content is there. the navigation is great with exception of the design being not so good. you need more usage of colors/fonts so that users can easily identify the information they are looking for in content areas.

Andrea I am afraid I am not at all surprised that you have had no bookings.
The template is fine but the content is terribly wrong. No details of the accomodation you are offering, just the names of the cities and an odd categorization system based on facilities and services.
As a customer I would have virtually no idea what I was going to get, but you expect me to supply you with myemployer's contact details and four references!
Are your prices per day or per week, per person or per room?
You encourage me to pay for a guide but won't tell me who anything about them. Do they know anything about what I want to see?
You offer me a stay in Birmingham and Leicester. You may love these cities and be able to convince people that they will have a great time there but you can't acheive that with a single short paragraph which focuses on the traffic system!
You need a mojor re-think followed by a complete re-write. Focus on the customers' needs. Tell them what you have to offer and for goodness sake allow them to make a booking enquiry without making them give you their boss's email address!
Above all much, much more information. More text. Attractive photographs. Where I will be. What my room will be like. If I am going to stay with a family what are they like?
You did say be brutal. Don't treat this as an attack. I do want to see you succeed.

As a newbie to the web design scene, I can give a "customer" view. There isn't much information given when looking for info on the different areas. Maybe you could include some links to more info for the prospective customer. Pictures of the types of homes for us across the pond.

to me, the adlandpro ads spoil the site. You should focus on the reasons you build your site and give your prospective customers the reasons why they should choose you instead of hundred other more professional services.
Good Luck.
Which mailing list should I use?

I really liked the nice clean look of it. The colors are nice. Although I do agree with the rest, still lacks a lot of information.

Very Nice, i love the use of the distinct edges. If I live in the UK, I would use it.

Okay - I think some times it is important to here from more than one person on content of the site. So if I repete any thing you have already heard. ... I ment too.
1. I was not sure what you offered. It was not to clear on your home page.. which is the main page.
2. identify your target market. Example: if it is americans put you prices in uses currency and give me a feature and benefit that is specific to them.
3. Put locations on main page and uses more key words. Example: travel to londen ect.
Most of the things I see is content and you did not sell your product. Most important things to remeber in sells is target market, feature, benifit. If you line these out you sould see more business.

The template is very clean but the content need to be a little more organized and more complete. The site seems to be empty, there's a lot of free space (in the right) that you don't use and it give the impression that the site is empty or not finished.
