you changed it,

space (first one) has owl on black background in netscape 4.7, Ie version has falling snow

space2 (second one) has owl floating around with stars in background on both browsers.

I think the owl flying around would get annoying, also if you want to be correct about it, I'm sure owls fly laying down (I could be wrong).
A lot also depends on if you plan to use it with anything else.

Yeah, a lot depends on what you are going to be using it for.

The first looks like snow and scrollbars come & go both horizontally & vertically.

Second one looks like space/stars but owl is very annoying after only a short period!

What is it for???

Julia - if life was meant to be easy Michael Angelo would have painted the floor....

Hello,

I visited your owl pages, and making a purely visual choice between the 2, I would have to say the one with the stationary owl is easier to look at. Personally I am not a fan of objects moving all over the screen. The majority of reviews I've read on sites that use an animated background have negatively commented on this idea.

I think the owl would look better if it was a side shot rather then one from below. Another way to preserve the "effect" and avoid using an animated background might be to create a window using layers iframes ect. that gradually fades to a black bacground. The effect might also be enhanced by adding some moving clouds via dhtml to offer some depth and contrast to the scene. Good Luck!
