To many categories, i can be bothered to look at all of them. Shorten them and maybe add sub categories if you need to. Add more color, bit bland.

I agree with benf. There are too many categories. I would rather drill down then have to look at all of that.
The colors are too bland. There needs to be another color. Something that accents..that is brighter. Maybe in the nav. It is all gray text and that just makes me want to leave.
The rest looks good and I really like the idea. Now, I know what the site is for - but I always like to see a brief explanation of what the site is...
I hope that helps!

Here are my 2 cents... The look is quite promising, but the executions is a little bit off. For example, the main links at the top are not clear because it is too bold and the color you chose seems not to contrast too well with the BG...
Layout is good, content organizations is a bit too busy, since that too many of a category to look at, turns visitors off... Although I like white space, theres too much of it here too...

Actually on the contrary I think the amount of categories is good. When I look at your site, I feel I could drill down to the specific script I am looking for! Actually I have just bookmarked your page. I think its going to be useful:)

When i first looked i was very pleased, having spent
a few years learning internet coding by looking for source code..
and picking it all apart for routines...
With all of the areas right in front of me, on the first click
I really liked it...
then i noticed that the code was all grouped in one area each,,
PHP, and all the others,, as well as i could not
tell which are freeware, shareware, demo, commerical, ...
But that is just me.
i really liked it at first glance and i did find a piece of
software that interested me and it is in my docs folder.
So that is working.
Good Luck!
Bill

I actually enjoy the simplicity of this website. I think the myriad categories we are seeing on this site mirrors that of many other popular websites of this kind. I think you may want to check out some others to see what they are doing to make it seem less overwhelming upon first glance, but I personally like a lot of specifics. It makes it easier for me to find the category I need without scrolling through hundreds of products I do not need. My main beef with this site is that it reminds me of those pages you stumble upon when you enter a domain that doesn't exist or something like that. A new visitor might mistake it for something along those lines and leave, but other than that, it's a great start.

Part 2 Review
The organization and categorization is good, it's the look of these areas that make it look cluttered and busy... If I was looking for something specific, the organization of the directory isn't a factor. But if Im a first time visitor, and a noob, I have to look pretty hard at first... I'm looking at it in a less subjective way... If the target niche are developers and webmasters, then all you need to update are your colour contrasts...

I agree, too many categories. I would visit dmoz and see how they did it. I miss the faq. The idea itself is good & nice. On http://browsershots.org/ you can check your site for browser layout.

I enjoyed the site for several reasons.
Additional observation: On the 2nd layer - where it describes each item - there is NO next page options at the BOTTOM of each page - forcing user to climb back to the top of the page to advance to the next set of options.
Overall - I enjoyed the site and will be back.
Thanks,

I think this will be a very useful site for me and many others here.
At first I thought there was to many categories but after looking around your site for 20 minutes I find I like it.
My only concern is it looks a little bland so why live things up a little more with some new colours?
Good Luck with your site !
