salt lake city
Hello all,
About ready to put this puppy to bed so I'd appreciate a quick look.
This isn't actually a "web site" per se. It will be running locally on a PC which gives me an inordinate amount of control. It will be on a PC at 1024x768 running IE6, probably full-screen. Some images are larger than ideal for this reason.
Having said that, it'll probably wind up on the web so any other issues are valid. I'm going to burn and ship it shortly so please help me find any faults beforehand!
Thanks

It looks good on 1024/ie6 which is what your target is right?
I would love to tell you that image file size is too big (the one on the front page) but since it's not going on the web.....
Everything worked well. A suggestion; how about adding scoring to the quiz? Show Answer / Hide Answer could have been a bit more dynamic.

Boy is it ever! I'm going to have to go back to the source to get this one web friendly. Optimizing the jpg deteriorates the borders something awful and as a gif, well the photos look like crap
Agreed. Had the questions been multiple choice or something, I may have been able to be more creative but this was what I was given to work with. By the way, it doesn't work in Netscape - suggestions welcomed.
I did get a chance to get some scoring in on the second quiz at least
Thanks for looking!

I remember looking at this one in an earlier thread. I love this design and colors. Actually, I think that the Introduction page should be the first one to open. It is soooo pretty. Shouldn't the Acknowledgements be something that the visitor could choose to look at instead of having to go to this page to get to the Introduction? not sure who your target audience will be but i would just skip the Acknowledgements if I just surfed on. That is always the boring stuff.;)Don't mean to say your design is boring, I would just want to show off that intro page ASAP. It is very nice.
Great work taff.

Exactly the reason that the client wants the user "routed" through the acknowledgements page

I like the graphics on the front page, but I feel that the logos along the bottom could be arranged better and the "enter" button should be a little more obvious - it's kind of getting lost among all those logos. Acknowledgements page has the same problem (and the text in the table is overlapping the bottom border a little bit in Opera 6). I would also like to see a little bit of explanation text on the splash page maybe, just so people have a better idea of what this site is about before entering.
Now, the main page is much wider in my browser than the earlier two. I feel that the text you've used for navigation is a little bit hard to read, and the "Home", "Acknowledgements" and "introduction" buttons aren't lining up ("Acknowledgements" is bumped up a little higher than the other two. ON the "Choose a SPort" page, you should have the text name of the sport come up in the middle when you mouseover an image. For some of them I wasn't quite sure which sports some of the figures were representing (like the Ice sports one - a hockey player would probably more obvious. I didn't really get the basketball one either, and the swimmer looked more like a diver).

Yikes! This is why I post here - I forgot to do a run through of alt tags. Thanks Megan! Other than that, I don't think I'll take the trouble to code in another mouseover effect. After all, there are text links above and below this thing. I'm kind of thinking that it is overkill to begin with - Navigate here, no here, no here!
I'm assuming the other bugs you mention are all in Opera6? I took a peek earlier and noticed some of them myself but I don't even have the thing working properly in Netscape yet and frankly, for once, I don't have to care!
Regarding the busy splash page, this wasn't really so until the lower logo was thrust upon me at the last minute. I'm still hoping to come up with an alternative here but I'm not too optimistic - running out of time.
Under normal circumstances, I'd agree to some text on the splash page... maybe But since this will be running on a PC in a booth dedicated to the subject, I think the user will know.
Thanks all for taking a peek. Unless something really broken pops up (like hyperlinks to my C-drive - what an embarrassing rookie error that was!!!), I'll be transferring to CD in a couple of hours.
