Just as a start, I'd get rid of the pop-ups.

Welcome to TWF and thanks for reviewing some of the others sites.

As Zollet said on your other thread, you really need the domain name on paid hosting without the ads!

Unfortunately I don't think anyone would take you seriously as a web designer as your site doesn't look professional. You don't have to have a stunningly graphic heavey site but a design would be good Wink Yours looks a bit of a mish mash of ideas and no real layout pulling all the elements together. Your logo looks odd stuck in the middle and looks like it's been cut off and stretched at the right hand side.

Blue is fine for a colour scheme, although I would be a bit more adventurous, but the green on hover for the links just doesn't go at all and makes the links hard to read.

But cheers anyway

Doesn't matter how old you are, how many hours you do it for (full time, part time) you really need at least a real email address (comes free with paid hosting) to be taken seriously, hotmail acounts cry out newbie.
don't center your text and use valign="top" on your content sections to lift the content
Also watch how you word things, on your about page you have things like "do not have any annoying errors such as broken down links and pictures failing to upload." whats a downlink? and shouldn't you of uploaded the pictures? what I think you meant to say is 'no broken links or images'

Looking at your code I'm surprised your site is actually showing up, so many errors in it including a table section starting before the tag and can't find any body tags.
your meta tag says "Home of top quality web designers" you really need to put your money where your mouth is (so to speak). if you talk the talk you have to walk the walk.
you also need to set your background colour (white) - can only be done if you have a tag

do a search for web design or similar on these forums for helpful advice on building up your portfolio

You really need to code properly and fix any errors - especially if you want to be taken seriously as a web designer, it's not all about how a site looks! Have you tested the site in any other browsers? It falls apart in NS4.7 and that's probably die to the errors.

Forget about the code and your hosting situation for now, you need to work on your design skills. This site needs a colour scheme, some nice graphics, better fonts, better layout, everything. If you want to market yourself as a designer you're really going to have to work on this. Study other sites and see what they're doing to make things look good. You will need to get a good graphics program and learn how to use it. Think about investing in some basic design books as well.

To be quite honest, I don't think your design skills are anywhere near where they should be to open a design business. I would forget that idea for right now and continue to work on your skills until you can get them up to snuff.

Hello,

Quote: Visual Dream Designs offer a fast and reliable service and never fail to reply to people's e-mails within 24 hours of the time that the e-mail was sent. We believe it is important to give good impressions to clients from the start

-------------------
Well the first impression i got was this site isnt proffessional looking, if i was trying to sell webdesign, then id make damn shure my website was proffessional looking and differant. Plus you havnt written that sentence very well...also check your spelling. "we offer cheat solutions"
------------------------

pointless saying any more really the site is really shabby considering your a designer. you need a complete rethink

good luck with the site.

Sorry didnt want to come over that harsh as your young and trying out at becoming a designer, my fault i didnt read all the replies.

My advise is as abouve, search for sites that interest you, and when you find designs that you like, try to make a similar design, start simple, dont expect results right away and look for tutorials, theres many many good sites out there with html tutorials, do a search on google.. colour schemes are quite important when it comes to attracting customers, (even though my site has been labled rather bland hehe, but at the end of the day, im not selling a service, so i dont need to worry about that, its my site for me and a few friends,)
but if i were providing a service, i would have to consider my customers..

Aside from what's been said already:

The site in your portfolio has this comment tag:
This Site Was Designed By Wayne D. Fields http://illusivedesign.org - http://supremetemplates.com

A web designer using someone else's premade templates will bite you in the behind for sure!

Suggestion:
Work on a personal site first....heck you could even use those templates from elsewhere to study and learn from.

What's good about a personal site is that it allows you to learn and hone your skills.

Hello...............

Let me point out that I'm strictly an "amateur".........

I thought the site was terrific! The only suggestion I can make is on the Home page, in the "You're too late" panel..........the text is almost unreadable.............due I think because of the choice of colors.

Thanks!

I find there is alot of inconsistency with fonts, colors, style... Maybe stickin to a theme would help unfiy the image you are trying to present.

Juts my opinion
