Firstly, there doesn't really seem to be much in the way of a design concept here. The colours are actually very seedy and overused. I can see why you have chosen them relating to the subject matter of the site but there are better colour schemes to choose from.
The logo looks more like a banner ad as it look s like it's just been stuck there and isn't part of the site design (if there was one). Maybe develop a design for the site using ideas and colours from the banner.
Why have you used flash for the navigation? They could be just simple rollovers which can be done without flash then no one needs to download anything they don't want. They also need to be incorporated within a design idea for the whole site.
The text would be a lot easier to read (even in red on black) in veranda and don't have the tables using the default table borders. I would suggest learning css if you want to create effects with tables, etc and it would be better for the coding and font styles etc.
Sorry to sound harsh but I think you need to redesign it with the emphasis on design.

I agree with the Webmistress. I think that what you should do is look around at other sites to get some inspiration. YOu'll notice that most sites have very clean cut logos (yours is kind of faded looking), navbars that everyone can see (in HTML or graphics - I have plug-ins turned off so I can't see yours), sans-serif fonts for body text with the default alignment (centered text is hard to read), clearly defined colour schemes that suit their subject matter (this red on black is making me think of old horror movies, dracula, things like that) and many other things in common.

The red text on black background isn't easy on eyes. I have to highlight the text to see them clearly. The color scheme and the font on nav bar doens't go with rest of the site well, and I didn't notice it's in flash until the Webmistress pointed it out hehe. I agree with the Webmistress that normal mouseover should be used instead since there isn't any complex animation to do. The content layout needs to be changed too. They seem to scatter all over the page now, especially those inside the big table on each page.

needs a theme for sure, with all the great buffy art and stuff out there you shouldnt have troubl finding anything.
I think everything is mentioned, so I'll add something else
the previews at the bottom, from your url i see your from UK (but not always the case), the tv channels you mention, BBC2, Sky one etc are useless to anyone outside of the UK, you could mention its the UK's channels or find other fans in different countries and do a complete list for all (or some) other countries.
pop ups are annoying, if you want to "try" make some money join up with amazon or someone as I'm sure buffy is a hot topic in books and things, but do it nicely, not in your face advertising, the merchandise page is a good touch.

Nuff said from the others. Please don't make me enter a site when I am already there. Lose the strikethrough text or lose the whole site and start over.
No one here is trying to be overly harsh but the site needs major help. Look over at http://www.coolhomepages.com for some possible inspiration.

I personaly think coolhomepages and cwd are to arty farty, over 75% of them are flash designs and lack in content,
my opionion for layouts, check out all the other sites related to yours since this isnt a business related site, and be private critic, take note of all the things youd do different, things that are missing (easy naviagtion, home button etc), check layouts, whats easier to read, wide and short, and short and long, color fonts, color backgrounds etc you can get a lot of ideas from bad sites rather than good ones.
just my 2 cents worth but check out coolhomepages, everyone has different opinions and this is mine, i prefer webpagesthatsuck for ideas

Arty, farty, that could describe you, Busy, LOL. Tis true that you have to weed through a bunch of garbage to get to some good stuff. Still it is good to see how others do it. I have gotten several ideas for sites, navbuttons etc there.

In my personal totaly novice review, I would get rid of the buttons that lead to know where I.E gaming, Paranormal I hate 404 page not found stuff ( or send to a page that says currently under construction check back soon or request an email when finished). The blue is faded in the header logo to the point where you realy have to strain to see or make it out. just trying to participate you can see my bad color schemes here stanwoodbottles.com joenov
