The graphics are fine and beautiful. Sticking out tongue There's no reason why they should be sharpened - he he he Laughing out loud If you'd like, you can join the forums! You are welcomed to!

We have said before that your graphics look grainy and jaggedy and the same goes here. The first page took a good few seconds to load due to all the graphics on there and I'm on a cable connection but it feels like going into a different site once you click on any of the links as the style is just so different. I would make the first page the same as the inner ones.

What's with the huge blank space at the bottom of each page?

Graphics look better on this one but I am seeing some jaggedy corners on the white curved border part.

I'm not going to read that whole big long message you posted up there so forgive me if I'm repeating something (supposed to be working... no time for that!). The front page here is IMO too graphic heavy. At 800 x 600 all you'd see is that big graphic, which does little to give the user an idea of what the site is all about. Those buttons along the bottom are rather confusing as well - only those who are very familiar with your site would be able to make sense of all that.

I would simplify this page quite a lot, make it clear that it's a network of 6 or so sites covering a variety of subjects). I shouldn't have to read that whole big message you posted to understand what's going on here. Maybe you could redesign the graphic to show a series of interlocking boxes or circles representing all the different areas of the network, with a "webquad" circle linking them together. That would make things more clear.

Once inside the graphics are grainy again. I do think that all of your individual designs are quite nice, and I don't mind that they're all different. Your design style and the top navbar unifies them (if you were to look at any other major network of sites the designs won't be exactly the same either). I especially like the "Officers of Valor" design.

Actually, they aren't. Your edgings are extremely jagged and many of the buttons and headers are really grainy.

Graphics optimization isn't simply a matter of getting the lowest byte size possible - it is a balancing act: the lowest byte size while maintaining visual integrity. If this is meant to be a web design business site, you will have to understand this concept if you hope to get anywhere.

I recommend Ulead Smartsaver Pro for graphics optimization. I'm sure that there are other decent apps as well but this one has always served me well.

WOW! That is one nice site!

The layout to the site is very nice and looks very professional (just what you need for a business site!).

There is a problem in my view though and that is the colours, purple and blue/green clash and are a bit sore on the eyes. This is mainly in the banner and if it was my site I would change it to something a little less subtle.

I had a quick glance at your forums and noticed that you are still using v2.0.2 of phpBB and maybe you should update to 2.0.3 for better service???

All links seem to work and overall it is a very nice site!Smiling

Thank you Timewell for the compliments. You are truly the only one that has willfully complimented the website from this place. So, I appreciate it Smiling I will be sure to remember what you said...

I agree with previous comments that some of the graphics are grainy, especially the dges of the opening graphic. Don't say people's comments are unfounded when you ask for advice. It's great to get positive opinions of your site, but they don't help you improve much now do they.

Also I am not a fan of the grey toolbar. I think it looks completely out of place. And I'd also say figure out a consistant color scheme. the purples just don't make sense with the opening page. They change on everypage too. May make some people think they ar eleaving your site. Initally at least.

That's all for now - Colors(bright red is bad) and consistancy

Yeah, really. Bad idea to ask for a critique here if all you want to hear is how wonderful your site is. (And I did say a few nice things about your designs, if I remember right Smiling)

These designs really aren't that bad at all. In fact, I think that they're very good. The biggest problem is the grainy graphics (sorry, but they are grainy and it doesn't look good.)

You have an awful lot going on. This may have been said before, but you are using a lot of colors. Some of which work, and some of which make me a little uncomfortable.

You seem to have a great deal of information, which I always appreciate. The pages seem big and filled...except many of them have a great deal of space before the footer. I don't understand why they need to strech down so far.

Unfortunately, your graphics seem out of focus. This is somewhat consistant throughout the site, including some of the examples in the portfolio. By taking some of the suggestions of people who posted earlier, I think you can clean those up and take advantage of the way you have organized your image use.

The homepage looks good but I dread to think how long it would take to download all those images on my dial-up connection at home...

I'm not a big fan of the navy/teal/purple colour combination on the Network page. There also seems to be duplication of navigation buttons. Why, for instance, have two "Contact" links at the top of this page when you could have one?

What website is this on, if I may ask?

Trust me, it doesn't take that long, only a few seconds, but is well worth it. Would you rather go to a website that was just a buch of tables, or the WebQuad Network?

I know, it is because of the Web Program I use. All of the pages are the same length because of something called a "Master Border." It is complicated to explain, but in the end, well worth it. But it doesn't tamper with any of the graphics/information, so it is okay Wink

Actually, the Opening Page is known as the "Entrance Page," that is all. It is suppose to stick out, but with the graphics of the "WQ" Ball in the center, it nicely fits everything together. Especially when you see the WebQuad Ball around all of the network...

The grey toolbar, as many people think, gives the website a professional addition, especially a "program-like atmosphere." My members and visitors simply love the websites, so I can't change anything. We have gotten over 150,000 hits in a matter of two weeks without any major advertising. So, people are enjoying the WebQuad Network (as I would hope).

Anyway, if any of you would like to drop by the WebQuad Network Forums (webquad.com/forums) I would love to talk about Webmaster stuff, and anything else!

Thanks again!

we4c.com, does she realise that word is really one of the worst things to use for building websites? It really isn't designed for this purpose and produces really bad code!

Don't understand what you mean about (word)being a bad word and producing bad code.Plese elaborate.

MS Word wasn't intended to be an HTML editor. The code it produces is often invalid, incorrect and non-universal proprietary MS stuff.

Also theres a lot of unnecessary junk in the code that bloats file size.

Best bet if you want a good HTML editor is probably Macromedia Dreamweaver. Or you could hand-code. In any case, steer clear of MS Word. Wink

Just came back here and saw the new comments. Thanks for the replies once again Smiling

Yeah, I am using a GREAT web program, and I don't care for FrontPage. I've seen it, and simply put, it doesn't compare to some of the other more awesome web programs out there Wink And definitely, I highly recommend something other than Word as well, but then again, you can still make great things happen from the resources you have!
