hey all,

my site, http://www.Volconvo.com is an open-ended debate community. I just set it up two weeks ago, and I think it's doing well but I'm just hoping to get as much C&C as I can before I start getting nailed with traffic..only 100 members and 2000 posts or so ...so far...but only 2 weeks old Smiling

Thanks Smiling

P.S. the site is explained way better..on the site Wink (all that intro stuff goes away once you register...I made a cookie to ensure that)

This is a nice looking site however, I got a little confused navigating around but finally figured it out. I didn't register but it seems like there are too many clicks to get to the meat of the site. It is set up a little different than most forums that I am used to but it works I suppose.

I think your site will do well. People love to debate. Wink

I like the idea behind it but agree with Sonia that there is way too much clicking to get into the site, even if it is just for the one time! There isn't much else to comment on, the logo is nice but I'm not keen on the red/white/grey colour scheme as it's just too sparse and the pictures that appear next to the logo seem odd to me as they appear to just float with no cohesion into a design.

Okay, is it just me or is this trend to use dictionary formatting to explain a word really ... silly? That's not a real definition of volcano, it's your definition for the site. Why not just explain what it is rather than trying to be clever?

The clever names for the section titles are also annoying. It makes the user think, which slows them down and may even keep some from getting into your actual discussion area. Why not use clear and straightforward titles? As far as unsability is concerned, simpler is always better. Especially in a case like this where your users need to get in and do something. It would be different in a more exploratory site that wasn't so task-oriented.

I do like the design. I don't find it to be too sparse at all. I find the emphasis on white space to be very calming, which may help people keep their tempers under control Smiling

Font sizes are a little small for my tastes - with the amount of reading inovlved on the site it might be a good idea to keep the fonts at a more comfortable reading size. At least use relative font sizes so people can scale it according to their preferences.

Looks like a nice forum to me, but I would tone down the bright red colors of the links just a little . . . maybe to a dark red, sienna, or maroon(?). On the other hand, the links are very easy to find. Smiling

Also, I feel that the picture link on the front page is too tall. To me, it would be better to see everything on the front page without having to scroll any.

Love the logo... very classy. Your forum templates could do with a bit of work though, as they're a bit plain at the moment... especially the three buttons in the top left which are very blocky and dull. Cool concept though.

I am at the site now.. Just going to type things as I come accross them.

I like the idea of the site, I am going to register. Never been one to miss a chance to argue with someone Wink

I could not find a place to register on the front page so I typed in a gibberish name and pass, now I see the register link.

Cool logo, but too much red. Maybe make the top bit black? That way the top would be black just like a volcano and the writting would be the lava within. Anyway...

Your forums list needs a little work. There is too much white space between the top of the page and where the forums start. Needs to be a little more 'tidy'.

BTW have you thought of a videogames corner? Fanboys love to scream to each other about how one console is better than another. However this may lower the tone of the site...

Good idea for a site all up Smiling
