REVIEW REQUEST: TotalWebZone.com
Hi,
I have been working on this site for 4 months now. Its doing ok with about 200-300 visitors daily. I am just after a few comments on what you webmasters think not just of the sites design but what the site does, how it could be improved, what you think of the services offered, what you would like to see on the site, etc
Thanks
Andrew Drake

Hi Andrew,
Design:
clickable, because I think the arrow makes the image look like a button.
-I think everything looks too gray/black/white. You might want to add some kind of color.
-I should make these images:
Services offered:
-To me it seems that you offer services that many more companies offer, but that shouldn't be a real problem. But try to communicate what makes your site better than the other ones.
You get 200/300 visitors a day, how many do sign up?

I totally agree, the site is ok but looks dull and bland and definitely needs some colour to make it more interesting and give people a reason to stay! It's all well enough laid out but you are selling services many, many others sell and unless you have a great offer and a great site you'll just be another webmaster site.
IMO you need a good, strong logo and yours at the moment is non-descript and fuzzy. What's it supposed to be?

I wouldn't say that there's anything wrong with a black & white look per se. Not a bad idea to go with that sort of a theme but more needs to be done with the logo area to make this really look great. The lower half is good - no compliants there. Just make sure you keep the design nice and clean, with lots of white space and few extras. That will prevent the monochrome scheme from becoming too gray looking.
As mentioned above, the logo/header area is the problem. YOu need to look at some more interesting looking fonts and something different for the background image. Make sure that stretches all the way across the screen (use a repeating td background to do that). You're going to have to do something pretty special with the logo to prevent this from looking boring.
About the content, there doesn't seem to be anything special here at all. It is a different way to go about running a hosting site, sharing the business side with more information for webmasters. You may want emphasize that on the site to somehow. THis isn't your typical hosting company etc.... you're interested in broader needs of webmasters.

Andrew, the text color has to go. Try using something a little more bold, like a blue or red. Also I thinkd there is too much text on your homepage. Instead of text, try using pictures with mouse over text.
The layout is well done, and you could integrate the auction listings and forums onto the homepage.

Heh.. not much I can say that everyone else hasn't said..
Black and white is ok, but if you're doing the whole grayscale theme (i've done it a few times) there can't be ANY color on your site. You have splotches of colored text for the prices, and colored banner ads. Doesn't work mate
Either go completely grayscale, or add some color.
Also.. if you stay grayscale.. save your logo as a higher quality image.. it looks WAY to jpeggy
