I'd like to try to get some feedback on my business's website:

http://www.threering.net

I'm not very happy with the design we're currently using. I don't think it looks as professional as it ought to.

Specifically, I'd like feedback about the following:

  • Color scheme
  • Typography (fonts, sizes, colors)
  • Layout (on both main and secondary pages)
  • Content (what's missing or ambiguous?)

Thanks,
James

(By the way, I just stumbled across this website, and I expect that I'll become a regular here!)

Thanks! But for my company, it's definitely not professional enough. That one was knocked out in a couple of hours because we needed to get something online, and we've been busy enough with clients that we never got around to updating it. Smiling

Welcome to TWF James - stop by the introductions section and tell us a bit more about yourself.

I think this site looks professional, the colour scheme is easy on the eye and with the blue that always implies business and the sand colour is a nice accent to the blue. The layout is typically business like and the font is easy to read and not too big or small.

On the first page I think that the top image is maybe a bit too high and should go all the way to the edge of the table border on the right and maybe have a slightly smaller margin at the top of the page. However on the other pages it looks like that header paert should be there as the inner pages look somewhat plain and as though something is missing. Maybe you could have the header on each page but change the photo?

On the inner pages the link back to 'home' isn't working.

The only thing I'm not sure of is the yellow for the links, I think they look a bit out of place almost, try another colour there.

Good work Smiling

Actually, your site does look good - even if it was snapped up in a few hours.

Two things though.

1, The heading image is too big, and make it span the whole screen.

2, Since you have a fixed width table for the content, why not centre it? So that people using higher resolutions (e.g. me) don't see so 'white space' to the right.

The site is centered Renegade, for me anyway in IE, what browser are you using?

Quite nice!

The colours work for me. The three shades of brown/tan counterbalance your three shades of blue very well.

I'm not a big fan of the Georgia font but that could just be me.

The pages without images come across as a little "dry". I think that adding a few would really transform them.

You should have a text nav in the page footers.

If there's anything lacking content-wise, I'd say samples of work or a portfolio of some sort. You offer a lot of services but not much in the way of demonstration.

Good work.

I'm going to be different and say I can see where James is coming from
I think it's a combination of to many colours and to many fonts (styles), looking at your css file your using 3 different fonts, verdana, Trebuchet MS and Georgia, keeping it to two would be better but two that are in the same family (I'd choose verdana and arial).
That top image needs to be compressed as well, it's 101kb - real slow loading on dial up, nice image thou.
you have the three blue rings so I'd say the blue is company colour, maybe make each section a shade of blue, instead of the tan/browny colour, keep the tan background, just change the content sections. keep the same look/feel through out the site but maybe use the coloured sections/pages as i mentioned before.
you should loose the yellow links, use the tan/browny colour for your link colour and use underline on hover (optional).

Hello
I like the overall site look, reminds abit of the, 'free site' look.
Was bit surprized to find the read more articles links leading to other sites though, the first impression i got, was that the articles were part of your site.
Good luck with the site.

Whole thing is left-aligned in Moz 1.3b.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll see if I can get that alignment issue resolved, as well as the other items pointed out.

What do you guys think of the color scheme? Should I stick with it or start from scratch?

I don't think you need to start from scratch. The current scheme works ok. Maybe refine a little. If anything, you have too many colours. Simplify — eliminate minor variations. There's enough interest created by the imagery. Wink

alot of good links, and they open in new windows, but most are generic marketing pages, and good sweet mike marketing people are all crazy ( as i well know!) that snark hunting website is very interesting. I like the site overall. I would space out the navigation more, too crowded. the achilles heel ( yes i paid attention in school that one day...) your contact us page is a 404!~ thats the bread and butter page. fix that one-Josh

I agree with the most - your site does look professional to me also - the top banner is a little to big for me - although it looks really good. The ThreeRing Weblog headings could do with standing out a little more - maybe hjust change the colours slightly - either way - looks great for such a short time in making - good luck

The site and color scheme looks really nice, but there isn't much content to let a new visitor know what it's about - oh and the top picture is nice, but took really long to load (dialup). The rest of the page loaded really fast, though.

Great looks! Where did you buy the top title picture, or have you made it yourself?

However the first page, content wise, is a bit unfocused. Try to target a smaller customer group and try to address that group with clearer messages.

The identity services, content services and technology services, covers an unreasonably large scope. It lowers your credibility.

Only thing i don't like is the border color between the blues at the top, but still very, very nice site...

Cracking site. Very professional look and feel to it. Like the colour scheme and the white really pulls you into the weblog. A few critisims. The header bar is too big. It looks good but theres just no real need. The menu bar just below would be centered if it was my site to go with the general centered feel of things! (same with the bottom bar)

Apart from that, very impressive for a site knocked up in a couple of hours!!!
