I just launched this site a month ago. Please give me feedback of what you would change or what you like. I need repeat visitors. If you know what would keep people at my site or what drives them away...let me know. [email protected].

thanks

Hey mate, welcome to the board Wink

Well theres definitely nothing that would drive visitors away, its very clear to me, i can see exactly what is what, the colour scheme is easy on the eye although blue is a little over-used by designers recently. I love the graphic at the top right, very very cool. One thing i would suggest and like to see is the continuation of the blue dotted pattern down the left hand side of the page, where its white with syndik8 written faintly now. It would look better for the pattern to continue down there to the bottom of the page. As it is, the header doesn't seem to 'flow' down into the site. All in all a very nice site, and it deserves the repeat visitors i'm sure you'll get!

fbords, can you please review some of the other sites here in the critique sections as per the posting agreement.

I like the general look of the site and I quite like the header area even though I'm not sure what that on the right hand side is. I don't think that the link hover blue colour goes with the other blues, I would have that change to orange or something to bring a bit of contrast to the blue.

The trouble is that you're site is providing what hundreds of other sites provide and you have some stiff competition. If people want to read the news I'm sure they aren't going to want to have to register just so they can modify your site a bit. Plus anyone who puts a poll up asking what you think of their site just puts me off to be honest!

Also you have one language selection, so what's the point. If you plan to add more don't put it there until there is a choice as it just makes the site seem new and unfinished.

Your site is obviously very new but until you have the other sections complete you can't really expect repeat visitors as apart from the news headlines there is nothing else to come back for! I can't see many people going beyond the first page right now anyway as that's where your content is. Also where you send people off site to get the news there again is no encouragement to come back.

I don't mean to sound harsh but you are taking on some competitors that are long established and unless you do well in the search engines and have a very good reason for people signing up to make them come back you have a hard job ahead of you. But good luck with it Smiling

ps. you have a small horizontal scrollbar at 800*600

As far as the design I think its easy on the eyes, and has a professional quality to it. I don't know why though, but the site just seems a bit blah to me. Maybe if you post some pictures from the news as well it might spicen things up a bit. If you goto

http://www.cnn.com/

you will see what I mean with pictures. It grabs your attention and gets you interested.

I would agree with the webmistress though, you are facing very tough competition with this type of site and because of that it might be hard to bring in alot of repeat visitors. You have to somehow stand out from the crowd and give the something unique that the others do not. That might be enough to help win some over.

I get a good first impression from the site. Nice layout - nice graphics. Only thing is there are already heaps of places to get news on the web. That's just my opinion, Maybe you could specialise more in a certain area of content? Just a thought - otherwise looks good!

Also pictures - people love pictures

Well my main reason for building this site is to attract a webmaster audience. I write and sell cgi scripts and the main attraction to this site will be all the thousands of scripts you can find here. It really isn't a news websites, its more of a resource website in which you can find almost anyting related to programming, designing, or scripts (well it will be).

Anyway again I appreciate the feedback.
