Deborah,

I think you have done a great job in listing a wide variety of resources for people who are interested in supporting the troops.

Change the tag to:

The only other suggestion that I have is maybe add text links to the bottom of each page.

I have looked at the site in IE 6.0, Mozilla and Opera 6.05 and everything looks consistent.

Nice work!

Thank you Sonia. I'm still checking out Blogs for the News Links page. I validated the code on each page (the only thing that didn't validate was the counter on the homepage).

If I add do I still live the doctype as is?

Also, is the MIDI on the Poetry page too corny?

Thanks again,
Deborah

Yes, leave the doctype.

HERE is the XHTML 1.0 transitional template for reference.

About the midi:
Since you asked.... Wink If I were to go to the page, I would immediately turn down the volume. Not that it is "corny" or bad but personally I find music on web pages to be annoying. Especially when I am quietly surfing late at night after the family is in the bed.

I have been to some sites where the music all of a sudden starts blasting and it wakes my daughter. She will come to me and say, "Mom! What was THAT?" Laughing out loud

I always surf with music off so I didn't notice it Smiling the home page is about 90kb thou.
the links (nav) are spaced down on opera6 on the poerty page, with the blue section slighty wider than the flag, the other pages are fine.

I'm not American as you know, but am a little confused as to which war/s this is in support of (or rather the troops). I did notice at the bottom of the support page is contact details for UK and OZ allies but if it's the Irag war there are other countries involved as well, maybe not front line fighters but medics and aid workers and all the little guys that load planes, boats etc that don't get aknowledged when they should IMHO

As a non-American the flag used doesn't stand out as an American flag, after looking at it for some time I can see is looks like its folded or blowing in the wind but isn't what we are used to seeing.

On the rallies page, you display an email address but the link shows different, some people just write them down so be sure the displayed one works.

Nice set of links and touching story on the first page. Easy to use and read. Thanks. I'd be proud to be an American after seeing that site if I was one

some of the pages run a bit long (ie the flag ettiquete page). it might be worth splitting them up into sub sections rather than just letting it scroll on for miles.

I like this site. I unlike some other Canadians support the coalition troops (but thats for a different forum) Nice simple design, very clean appearance.

Quality. Reliablility.

Quote: Email contact information, date, place, time and a brief description to Webmaster@SupportOurTroops.

Normally, I just copy and paste email addresses, rather than click on them or grab the linked location, so it might be better to show a valid address on the rallies page.

Hi, I really liked this site! The picture of Firefighters raise the flag at the World Trade Center on 9/11/2001 is my favorite picture of all time. I liked the poems also.

Thanks for all the info that you found on how to get in contact with all of these people to either donate or write. I appreciate it.

Over all a pretty good and clean design. Personally I am not a fan of the music as it started while I was half way through a page and startled the hell out of me. Other than that nice job.

Wow, it's not often you get to see a nice clean, easy to navigate, clearly laid out site like this!

I must also request that you remove the music. I always have a CD playing when I'm working on my PC, it really doesn't work when a load of MIDI starts blaring over my Chemical Brothers album! Laughing out loud

Thanks to everyone for taking the time and trouble to review the site.

Thanks to your suggestions I changed the html tag, corrected (hopefully) the tables on the Poetry page so the nav displays correctly in Opera6, displayed my actual e-mail adress on the Contact page and removed the midi from the Poetry page.

I also intend to to do some research - when I get the time! - to see if I can offer links sites offering similar support organizations for our Allies (if you knows of any, please let me know).

Hello
I also liked the site, its welcoming and friendly to the eyes.
just one point, the contact and e-mail links lead to the same page.so why have the two links?
good luck with the site.

A revised flag graphic that was sharper ( try .jpg ) would make the site look a little "tighter"
