left navigation menu very slow to load. do you really need that disclaimer on every page as well as linked at the top? also people might like it if you linked the photos to a larger view, somewhat hard to see features in a small picture. on home page where it says "remember FREE SHIPPING, id make all that text red, free shipping not just free.-Josh
forgot, does anyone have any suggestions on how I could speed up my navigation on the left side? Taking out the rollover isn't an option. If I have to go with a faster host then I'll have to just to save my nav bar.
ah actually i've just noticed that the writing is part of the image, probably should make this text and just have the arrows as images in a sererate table column, that would be much faster.
Could you please help us out and review some of the other sites posted here in the critique section as per the posting agreement.
The site design is quite nice and fresh but I somehow feel it's a bit cool (as in temperature) for a sunglass site. I think that it should have a warmer, sunnier feel maybe adding some orange colouring to the rollovers rather than the sandy colour.
The picture you have at the top reminds me more of dusk than a sunglasses day in the sun. Could you find a warmer picture?
At 800*600 you have a large horizontal scrollbar which appears to be because of your tables set up & possibly the Frontpage coding (which tends to be messy and could make the page slow). Also at 800*600 the layout of the main content section could use some rethinking as the first paragraph is all that you see and there is the blank space next to it which looks like there is something missing.
I don't actually think that you need the disclaimer on every page. Link to it on a seperate page but it looks like you are trying to spam the search engines with it by getting top brand names onto every page!
Good work in all

Yes, this is a great website and I will be around here a lot.

So maybe just brighten it up a bit?

I was a little comprehensive about using that flash movie at first. I searched around and that was the best I could find. If you have any ideas, please let me know.

Is there a way to format the table so that it is flexible? So it doesn't force there to be a scrollbar? thanx

Actually this is pretty necessary to cover my *ss. Yes, it looks like I’m spamming, but I'm not. At least that is not my intentions. If you go to any of my competitors sites, every single one of them does this.
I can't figure out how to prevent the table from pushing the blue vertical table on the right side of the page. Can someone check out my code and help me here?
WOW, that's alot of code for that page! The table problem is due to the forced size of the center portion of the page, which should probably be thinner anyway. There is too much white space on the right side, IMO.
Also, the left menu was slow to load for me too. I'm on T1. Davey's suggestion is definitely one to employ.
I like how you got the line to come down on the runner, that is cool. Nice site you have there. Good luck with it, and if you want to trade links i have a sunglass section on another one of my sites which is an on line shopping mall.

You have a 200+ pixel horizontal scrollbar in IE and Opera at 800 X 600. Mozilla is way worse than that--about a 600 pixel horizontal scrollbar. OUCH!
The first thing that I recommend is remove the XHTML Strict Doctype, , from your code and replace it with either of the two below--probably the first one since you are using tables, font tags and front page.
Did you know what you have 75 extra closing font tags () in your code just below the disclaimer?
Really ronhollin, this code is a mess. I would say in your case, it would be easier to start from scratch than to try and go in a fix all that. I ran your site through the W3C Markup Validator and it sorta choked up after some 1200 plus errors and said, "Transmission Stopped!" :alien:
This link to Netmechanic will give you a good idea where your errors are for now. It is a direct link to where I sent your site through their validator with your results.
No I mean critique the look of the site. I'm not too concerned with the code or Mozilla browsers. At least at this point. There's 28 tags not 75. Yes the code is a mess, but at this point I don't have the time to "start from scratch". I'm no webmaster as you can tell. I'm just concerned with the way the site looks.
The images are nice but if things don't fit together properly (even in the worlds most forgiving browser, Internet Explorer) it sorta cancels out any "looks" that you may have...IMO.
Here are screenshots at 800 X 600 on Windows 2000.
See there, the code is just as important as the "look" of the site now isn't it?
I just had a thought.
Web design is kinda like a marriage. The graphics are the wife and the code is the husband. If the two don't work together you have a failed marriage or a failed website.
Hey that might be my next signature line.
I won't mention the other browsers since you aren't concerned with those. However, with a little work, the site could look good for all. Maybe not exactly the same.... but good.
I was getting the same results in my browsers as well. Glad it's getting resolved.

Well it loads instantly on cable.
What i think the problem is though, is that you have a different image file for each option, all you need really is one selected and one unselected.
First Link
When its a different link, simply change the image title :
Second Link
etc...
Hope this helps, it should speed up your nav!

to stop getting an horizontal scrollbar, use relative (%) table widths instead of absolute (px) widths.
