Hey all Smiling

Some of you might remember this place from a while back. It's gone through over 6 complete refits thanks to Vic (founder) who is never happy with the looks. This time around, and since i'm the sites editor now, i got some input on the design. I'm in here for a fresh perspective though cause this one is different from any of the designs thats preceeded it.

Heres the site... http://www.stclandirectory.com

Theres one problem i know about, the top head banner is slightly too large and forces a small horizontal scroll on 800x600, thats being fixed though Smiling

For an idea of what the site used to look like just before this update, have a look at this...

Hi Katie, (:

The new site is an improvment, nice job. I can point out a couple things for you.
The grey box in the middle column is too wide. It runs the 3 columns together.
The menu sections appear to be right aligned. I think it would look better if it was left aligned, or at least centered.
I would also suggest putting your disclaimer in a seperate file, and linking to it at the bottom of the page.

Hope this helps.
Cheers,

Hi tuffy Smiling

Quote: It runs the 3 columns together.

Ya kind of lost me a bit on that one...should i bring the % width down to about 90% for that grey box table?

As for the menu's. The actual text links in the nemu are left aligned, the head menu section are images with a right alignment and a motion effect trailing left, and the screenhots section image headers are also images but opposite layout. I'll see vic about making them all left on the image with the motion trail going right Smiling

...and ive put the legality stuff in a new page Smiling

Personally (and normally I'm not a fan of black background) I prefer the older look, it's more sci-fi with the graphics than the new one which seems much too flat and drab.

Your iframe isn't working too well as there is no scroll to it and it cuts off at the bottom. Why are you using an iframe?

Hi Katie,

I would think resizing the table would work, yes. Although, that may mess up the text inside the box. You may need to rework it. The grey box runs into the third column, I think it would look better if there was space to distinguish it is part of the center column. For example, the second grey box, the one right below it, looks fine. Clear as mud, right? Smiling

Keep up the good work (:

Ok, do you mean the grey box with the advert in it? Or the grey box with 'Clan Announcements' etc in it?

The box at the top with the banner adverts etc is a seperate table. The one below it with Clan Announcements is another seperate table inside the middle column Smiling

As for the IFRAME...the news is actually from a PHPBBFM news portal, it's linked through an IFRAME to display on the site's front page, theres no other way to do it Sad

I liked the older look better, but that's just me (it looked more Star Trekky).

If they're talking about the wide gray area where the clan announcements are, I would think that simply making it into 3 vertical rows (rather than 3 horizontal columns) and making both the left and right (white area) columns wider would possibly do the trick. Smiling
