Review Request - sitesUnseen
It's time for a change. Actually, the time is long due but I've had trouble coming up with something - the "carpenter with a leaky roof" syndrome I suppose.
Anyway, this is what I've come up with:
http://www.sitesunseen.com/new2003/
Too plain? Too narrow? Too... what?

Cripes. It's different! I do like it, but perhaps it needs more content - more jazziness? Ah Ha! I have a cunning plan...
I did this design a while ago for a club night called Sacred, unfortunately dance music died a bit in the UK and the owners of the brand decided to kill the idea. But this design (with a lot of alteration) could work really well for what you want to do; here's the URL: www.intermediaonline.co.uk/sacred/
Have a look, it's nowhere near finished but hope it provides you with inspiration.
Instead of the pictures on the right you could use different eyes as rollovers, the Sacred logo could be replaced with your own brand etc etc.
I'm personally really happy with this design, and would love to see it put to some use instead of languishing on my HD (credit goes to The Webmistress's husband for the idea).
Anyway, if you like it use it!

I like this - it reminds me of what I'm doing with my site actually. Very similar setup. I think that the best thing about this site is that it's a really good example of what you do and your own design style.
One thing I will complain about is that I think the business section of your portfolio is a little long both in terms of content and in terms of page length. I would reduce some of the text information there and cut out some of the examples that aren't necessarily your best work. I know this is hard - I'm anticipating having to do the same thing soon. What you could do is showcase your best work just have text links to other examples. Now that I'm reading more of this I understand more what you're trying to do with all the text - good way to sell your product by explaining why a site is a benefit to the client in business terms.
I'm finding the text to be a little small here (am I getting old? Am I the only one who has a problem with all the tiny font sizes used so much now?)
Don't forget to fill in your page titles.

I thought this might come up. I'm of the same mind. I actually have culled a few from both the business and nonprofit sections but maybe need to trim a bit further.
One thing that gives me pause on this though is that the last time I was considering a cut, the phone rang. It was a soon-to-be client that was looking for someone who had done "a lot of sites" and thought my portfolio reflected that. I decided to leave things as is at that point
No, you aren't alone there. Perhaps if I can cut back a bit in the amount of text I'll be able to bump that up a notch.
No ma'am!

What I'm considering doing with my portfolio is keeping the best examples on the first page and putting the lesser quality ones on secondary pages. That might be something to consider, although it is nice how you've got them listed in categories here.

i'm finding a width of "468" a bit 'small' it looks ok on 800*600 but how would it look like on a bigger Resolution? ?(
Other than that, it looks good

Just my opinion, but I don't like the eyes theme. I know what you were going for artisticly but I just find so many eyes on the home page to be visually.... um... well, freaky! (some eyes more than others) Sorry. But I went thru the rest of the site and I like everything else like design and layout and stuff.

I pick "Too plain". Well, it's not really too plain, but it's somehwat bland. You haven't got much going in the way of brighter, more vibrant colours (or even images). In your previous design, you had a lot more going on, but still balanced. I think this new look lacks that little "life".
You do a good job with the eyes. I really like seeing two eyes for once, instead of the cycloptic images on so many other sites.
Everything else is just fine. I don't see ways to improve it.

I'd say to narrow, and if it wasn't as narrow it wouldn't be as long
The colour of inline link are a little hard to find, the colour blends into the text to well.
I like the eyes, except the old ladies ones, think its my grandma going to get me with a wooden spoon lol
nice work

Sorry Mike but the "eyes" have it! (heh - I was just waiting for a chance to say that )
The eyes, in some variation, have been with me since the beginning. They're too much a part of my identity to drop now. Internet Concepts Unlimited = ICU. icu@sitesunseen, etc.
The other "eye-hater" is my wife so I'm used to making the argument
In case you haven't guessed by the width, I started off making some banners and thought hey, these could be page headers. I actually had to drop a page from my current site for the navigation to work with the width. Perhap I'll try it at 550, 600 tops (sue me, I like whitespace) although I have to admit, the skinny lil sucker is growing on me and I'm at 1152 width (I must *love* whitespace!)
Busy, you're right on the nav colours. I did have them reversed but the pink looked to much like the current site. If I get all the fonts up to 12px, then bolding the links might do it.
Thanks for the feedback guys.

Push it up to 620 if you're going for >648x480 compatilibility, or 750 for >800x600. Skinny is one thing, toothpick's another.
I'm on 1280x1024, btw. Imagine what I see...

I pretty much agree with what's been said so far on this! The only eyes I like are the closed ones but it is, as you say your branding, so that's fine. I definitely think it needs to be wider though.

ok, I bumped up the width a bit (550px) and took the font size up a notch in the portfolio sections. I also went with a new link colour.
I think I'll go live with this later today unless anyone notices any glaring errors.

Width: better now. I'd still go a little wider, but if you like it like this, it's fine.
Link colour: I don't like the new colour. I'm partially red-green blind so it's hard to tell just what shade it is. Looks like it could be a grey, or a dark green, or even a desaturated dark red. It still somewhat blends with the text colour when I don't look closely. I'd like to see a brighter colour, but again, at this point, it's really up to you.
Otherwise, I didn't spot any glaring errors. Good job.

Better! I particularly like the way you have the portfolio screen shots, is that why you do splash pages?? hehe
