Review Request: Sactosaurus.com
this is a local Sacramento based website... "Sacto" is commonly short for Sacramento. So some of the stuff may seem a little out there (as in, you might not know what it is), but that probably just means it's local.
It's still being worked on, but about 90% complete.
Obviously just a hobby site, ads are there for friends and sometimes referral fees (it does happen, you know!). Have fun and don't take it too seriously. Lord knows I don't!

I'm not going to say to much as its a hobby site
on your pictures pages at the bottom, there is next and last, no previous
Also there is no home link, people still dont think the icon usually is one, so may help to place a home link.
As a hobby site you could get away with it, but the link names are hard to work out whats what, i read your about us/feedback page (had no feedback) and saw "Jen gives us regular updates on student life and things of that sort." Sounds interesting, especialy for someone on the other side of the world, but looking at your links I have no idea where her columns are. Maybe add a sitemap or rename the links

This looks good overall but I think you should do a little more tinkering with your layout. It needs to be pulled together a little bit if you know what I mean. Try using some table backgrounds to define content areas, or maybe just lines or something... not too sure about what should be done about that.
I also think that the logo should be a bit bigger, and the diamond pattern thing on the right side should be toned down a little bit - maybe try just fading out the darker colours a little bit.
I like the way the colours change from page to page, but that should happen more consistently - every section should have a new colour, not just some of them. And for consistency's sake, keep all the colours on the diamond area the same from page to page except for the green part which could change. I find that that area is changing too much.

I agree about the colour changes, make each page have it's own colour and make it clearer what the pages/links are about. The diamonds at the right hand side are a bit overpowering and they are what the eye i sdrawn to first on the oage, especially at lareger resolutions as they are more or less in the middle of the page!

This is what caught my attention more than anything (how could it not!) At 1152x768, the diamond pattern is way too distracting. I pop it down to 800x600 and I see that this was the intended resolution.
I also agree with Megan - make every page the same colour scheme or every page a different colour scheme.
You also may want to consider putting a secondary text nav at page bottoms.

Hi Johnboy,
Since you said, "have fun and don't take it too seriously" I will be gentle. It sorta has a Jurrassic Park feel about it with all the dinosaurs. I am not sure how you came up with this theme or how it ties in with your local stuff but it is definately different.
I agree that the right border is a bit overpowering. Most everything else has been mentioned as far as the look of the site.
I looked at your code at netmechanic.com and it is a mess. Front Page did it! LOL You have 12 sets of html, head, title, meta and body tags. There should only be one. Let me go count again. Yeppers there are 12 of those boogers. Here is the link the the netmechanic html check so that you can look. Find the part that says "HTML Check & Repair 100 errors" and click on "View a Detailed Report".
HTML CHECKASAURUS
I think this link will be active for a day or two. After that you will have to do another check to see it. Oh, I peeked at the code on your other pages too. They have the same extra code clutter.
You should put a "Home" link in your navigation. Helps people find their way back.
If you need some help sorting out your code just give a yell here and I am sure someone will help.

I like it. A light hearted site is a nice change. I agree with the points the others made. Loved the humour section. You are right - I don't get most of it but that's OK.
