Here's my new website. I'm a little unsure about the design and coding. Please comment. http://rayssites.no-ip.com

Hiya & welcome to the forum.
Can you please review some of the other sites in this forum as asked in the rules you agreed to when posting this thread. This not only helps others, so that they will review your site, but also helps by giving you ideas.

The site is very, very slow and I'm on a fast connection!

Hi...the site loads fairly quickly on my machine though...

Firstly, I didn't know yours was a game-related site until I read the words neo-geo and emulators. Perhaps the design needs to be tweaked further, such that it is immediately evident that (1)yours is a gaming site and (2)yours is a classic gaming site...the retro feeling is probably lacking...

Also, I'm not a fan of such backgrounds that you're using; perhaps a solid-coloured background would improve the looks...perhaps dark gray to go with the retro theme.

Yes, I agree about the background. I think that what you need to do here is design your site in a style that reflects your topic a little better. With that background on there it almost looks businesslike. Take a look at those posters you've dsplayed on the site. Look at the styles of graphics they'ved used. Look at the fonts and colours. You'll notice that most of them have bold text effects in their logos, bright colours everywhere - often black backgrounds.

I agree that you might want to be more clear about what this is about - I didn't understand what you were talking about until I got further into the site.

I think you need more of a theme as already mentioned, I thought it was a portfolio at first

Looking at the sites with a 14 inch monitor the text in the headings wraps to the next line, which isnt pretty.
You dont seem to be using the whole screen width, might it be an idea to make your table with the text in it auto-stretch and have a set width for the rest?

Thanks for all the advice. I added some animated gifs to make it look more like a gaming site. I also changed the address to http://raysgaming.sytes.net And I changed the title of 1st page to say Classic Arcade Emulation. But could not find the proper background to go with my color schemes. Right now it's a P2 350Mhz with just 64md. of system memory. I can't speed up things untill I get a faster desktop server. And by the way. That's what a site looks like when using MS Publisher 2000. The creation of the site took no hand-coding at all. Thanks for all your help.

I say get rid of that animation!! You need to think of a colour scheme, three or four colours with one being the background colour. Then re-design the logo in an appropriate font and colour to the scheme. Put more explaination onto the first page and use a font like veranda for the main text as it makes it a lot easier to read on screen and looks more professional. I must say that the site does look like a MS Publisher creation!!
