Hi all. I had y'all review this site about 6 months ago. Here's the past review thread but this image below is the only way to see what everybody was talking about back then.

So now here's the redesigned website

The overwhelming #1 issue was the powerfuly bright red. So I toned that down to a "Cardinal" color. I also put in an image based navigation rather than boring text, and added subtle background images behind the navigation and header graphic. Most of the content within the site is exactly the same but I made some other changes to the front page (sorry no old shots to look at). I always listed the most recent updates but now they're clickable. I also added news headlines that open up to full stories, a poll, and stats (stats are in the bottom right because they're just eye candy). Oh, I also implamented a linked css syle sheet rather.

So for those of you who remember my old bright red version, how's I do on the redesign?

P.S. DON'T try to validate the code. It won't happen and as long as it works, I do't plan on fixing it. But you'll be glad to know that I am validating the site I'm working on now.

Nice. I really like that logo header area. Looks really good. I'm not too sure about that texture in the background there - it kind of feels like my eyes need adjusting. I think it's probably right to have a texture there but I'm not sure that this is the right one. I love the way you've positioned those photos there, but I'm wondering if they could maybe be closeups rather than shrunken full size photos. That's also hard on the eyes.

Overall it looks really good. I've just got a few nit-picky things to talk bout. I'm thinking that the layout should either have no margins or have a solic border all the way around. It seems to float off the edge to the left and bottom here. It would also be nice to do something with the white space around the site - just make it grey or something so it fades out more.

In the directory, avoid centering thigns so much. It's easier to read a list of biographical information when it's left aligned isntead of centered. That makes it easier to scan the list of info (your eyes can move straight down rather than jumping back and forth for each line).

Great work!

I like the look and feel of it except the banner font color, maybe make it whiter so it stands out more

The site loaded very quickly. I think your layout and graphics are great. The navigation is well set up and easy to use.

The only thing that I did not care for was the different graphics used for the years on the Alumni Directory page. they seemed to clash with the graphics already in place. I would presonally prefer just a bold black date for each year.

Otherwise, job well done.

Thanks for that link. That site other site looks really good and I may contact him/her about how he/she implamented some of those features. I've wanted to do lots of those ideas but my limited knowledge prevented it.

A lot of nice and interesting elements on your site. I wonder though about the font and color choice of " 1980's, 1990's and 2000's " in your Directory page. It appears to me a bit out of context with the rest. But maybe this is precisely what you wanted to achieve (?).
