I've recently created the site: http://percussionforum.com/

It doesn't have a logo as my best design tool is paint ( Sad ) but I've contacted some people about designing a logo, so that's on the way.

Any feedback would be helpful, as well as marketing tips in my post in that forum.

Thanks for the feedback.

Looks okay, nothing to great to seperate itself from the other PHP portals. Colours look great together!

Sadly, all good nuke templates cost money, and I have no way of transfering online. Sad

It's a forum, I hate critiquing forums! It looks like a forum and that's about it. When you get a logo post again and we'll review that as right now there isn't anything different to look at, it's too blue, needs an accent colour & gets a horizontal scrollbar at 800*600.

Julia - if life was meant to be easy Michael Angelo would have painted the floor....

I don't know much about PHP Nuke but I really don't agree with the design style. TOo many little boxes with too much text that is usually too small. Get rid of anything on there that you don't *need*. Then make the fonts bigger so people can actually read them without getting an eye strain headache.

The only boxes you need here are "navigation" , "search" and "login". Then you're left with two columns. To add interest, consider keeping the navigation boxes on the right instead of the usual left column navigation. Also try to see if you can do the content area in one big box instead of each entry being in its own box. Much better. Now, get a better colour scheme. Shades of blue is so boring. This doesn't say "percussion" to me at all. Black and tan might be an interesting idea.

I run a phpnuke site, it is the best choice for portals Wink theme looks ok, a little too bluey for me, the main content is a >little< hard to read

I look at it this way, a forum is for reading... to me, it seems that for accessibility reasons, black backgrounds hurt the cause. The gradients look nice, but the copy is too difficult to read, unless your targeting a small group of 20/20 eye sight teenagers, I'd switch to a more flexible platform. If it is, then you may be just fine. Like The Webmistress said, it's difficult to critique a forum, because we are commenting on a developer's work and your choice of a color scheme.
