Review Request: Ottawa Chamber Music Society
While I'm at it, I might as well throw this up for review. Y'all may remember it when I had it in the concepts forum but I'm curious as to what you think of it with content. The client's in love with it so it would be unlikely that I'd make any major changes to it but if you notice any little things, I'd like to hear about them.
The general consenus last time around was that it needed more colour. Does the photography help in that department?
There are a few corners of the site that need some work still but I hope to have it ready to publish by the end of the day.
PS - the Flash intro is not mine and may not work for you. That is a separate issue that I'm dealing with. Personally I *really* dislike the intro but am not sure how to break it to them - they had someone in-house work on that for weeks!
Edit: Sigh. Here's the link for all you "psychically-challenged" out there http://www.sitesunseen.com/clients/ocmf/

Link?
Skipped the intro.
Splash page is as good as ever.
I'll still pick on the colour for the interior pages. The photos do help break things up a little, but I'd like to see more of that gold-ish colour. I like that traditional-crusty-English-bread-in-autumn (where did that come from??) feel that you've got with the pictures on the splash page.
Fonts. For some reason I don't think Arial works best here. I'm thinking Georgia/Serif but that might be too much accent. How about that for just the blue headings?
The "Welcome" pic and the black bar below that seem kinda useless... taking up space. Don't know what you could do about it, if anything at all. Edit: scratch that. You've got a nav for the other pages, I see. My bad.
Nice work.

Altough I find the nav bar a bit dark, I really like what you did. Nice layout!
About the flash intro: If you can't get rid of it... try to let that someone put some music in it. That's what everybody is expecting from a music site intro, I think.

I personally wouldn't have the flash intro and then the splash page!! One or other if you have to have either and I agree with Jack about the flash though needing some music.

Yeah - good point. However, I hate the idea of giving up what I think is a really nice splash page in favour of that flash intro.
I do need one or the other to provide the french/english option although you know I'd have one anyway. Sue me - I like splash pages
Re music: Apparently there is supposed to be a sound track but they've had difficulty getting it integrated.

Are they hoping to get this into the search engines?

uhhh - yeah. Haven't even begun in that department yet. OK, so it *won't* be ready today

If you are wanting a reason not to use flash (or a splash page) then SEs give a good reason, they don't like flash and an index page with a flash movie and a link to a splash page again with nothing more than images will not do well.

Well, I like the site layout, but the Navigation Column is a bit dark, maybe you can lighten it up a little or something

Yeah - I'm getting this a lot regarding the nav although I find it rather readable myself. I've been holding off on redoing this because I'm waiting on French translation. The wordiness of the translated nav could seriously impact an approach I take.
