Hi,
Just recently I redesigned my very amature web design page over to a more simple corporate look. I changed, well, everything inculding the logo. Some sincere comments on it would be greatly appreciated.
-thanks

I quite like the header part, although I'd have the logo slightly bigger to fill up a bit more space. The layout/design is a bit sparse IMO and even at 800*600 everything feels squashed together into those three columns. I would try to make the text differnt in each column somehow so that it doesn't all seem to blend into each other and use more of the blue, for headings etc, to break up the black text.

Great!

I love the image roll-overs on the navigation buttons, It really helps the user know they are on a link.

Blue/Yellow has always been a colour scheme that says 'professional' to me.

Even though I am not to keen on sites that don't use a left navigation, I like this one because it is simple, not cluttered, clean and crisp.
Good Job

I thought your website is proffesional looking although not much content, easy to use and business like.

First off thanks for everyones input so far. By sparse IMO what do u mean? How should i make the text differnt? I like the blue idea for headers. Thanks again

hm, the site looks alright. it is kinda plain for a design site. You'll probably have better luck getting clients if you have a bigger portfolio Sticking out tongue

I quite like the sparse look you have going. The emphasis on white space is quite effective IMO. I do find that things seem to be proportioned oddly. You have the page divided into four columns - I think three would be a better proportion. You may also want to consider removing the strict column layout on some pages. I mean, you don't need that left column explaining what the page is about, and the main text would be easier to read if it wasn't crammed into that little column.

Here's another idea. Lose the three-column layout. It's unnecessary and not very functional. Have the right edge of the text section line up with the yellow bar at the top. Try doing something different with the right side of the page, like giving it a coloured or patterned background. That would keep your emphasis on white space while adding some more spice to the design. The yellow bar would still extend across the page - that would look sharp IMO. Make sure the right column I'm talking about takes up 1/3 of the page, while the remaining desing is 2/3. Thirds is a good way of sectioning a design - makes for good proportion.

I thin I am missing something, people have mentioned the mouseover navigation and pages etc but all I get is a 4 column page with logo and text, no links, navigation or mouseovers.

well poo, I looked at your source code and it's a flash navigation. It doesn't display or give the standard "get flash player ..." pop up with mozilla and IE is taking ages to load, I think the page has hung.
have you set the background colour? is default (grey) for me in IE but white in Mozilla (forget what my default is in that).
ok finally got the IE "get flash player .." pop up, I refused, page still says 1 item remaining but could be the flash hanging.
You need a text navigation or something at least down the bottom for us that don't like/use flash. A lot of people don't use flash for security reasons, same as javascript. So as a webdesign site you might want to cater for everyone - but it's up to you, your site/business and everything.

nice clean design thou, I'd go to 3 columns instead of 4 as well.

Oh my gosh!!! Why in the world did you do that in flash!?!?! I looked at it and assumed it was CSS! Really, if you can do the same thing with CSS why in the world would you use flash instead????

Looks nice...not overly complicated.

I love less!

Seems a little plain, I waited for more stuff to display, and found that none did, not very interesting if you ask me.

i agree with teamatt3 , its a bit too plain , maybe its just me but all i see at the top is just a small picture and nothing else , personal 1st impression is that the designer couldnt be bother with it, then again , i can understand from an artistic point of view the white space is a bit of modern art in that sense .

Personally i think a dark line running across under ur link would help , and also the areas of contents should be individually framed with 1 pixel blue.

It will keep the feeling of cleaness and white space that you originally designed .

Just my 2 cent Sticking out tongue .

A few brief points:

1, Always set background colour, never assume (if you did) that it will always be white - you can change the default, mine is grey.

2, Again, do try not to assume that people have a flash player installed, I do but I have it disabled. Therefore I cannot browse the site - not something you want happen.

3, If you need some help turning the nav into CSS and not using Flash to do it then I will be more than happy to do it for you, it won't take too long I guess Laughing out loud

Pretty good I guess, although the body text is too small its just slightly readable Smiling

Good work Laughing out loud

i like how it looks professional. with the columns of text, graphics, etc. but it was kinda hard to find the navigation menu. they're grey links on white background. if i hadn't rolled over them, i wouldn't have known they were links.

This is nice but I agree about the three columns. Two will be better. This will add some width to the main text part. Also, your navigation will be more accessible if done using CSS instead of flash. I would also make the background color where you top nav links are a little darker or either make the text a wee bit bigger. It doesn't seem to stand out enough IMO.

A secondary set of nav links at the bottom would be nice too. Smiling

I like the simple and clean design. But it is difficult to fully review the site when there isn't much content. I take another look in a few weeks.
