So far, I like the new one best. The rounded corners do seem to make it flow better.

Have you considered redoing that header image of the lake scenes? The image quality could use a little improvement.

Well, I like the new one better. You might want to curve the edges on the new one to give it more of a feel. Also, center the whole thing. The mouse click colour for the menu isn't great, blue on a dark turquise(sp) doesn't work. Looks great!

main content tables, the one that holds the weather thing

do something like

add extra table for table border decorations if wanted

content
weather and stuff

whatever was at bottom

end added table for table border decorations

and thats it, check your editor allows you to do that, my experience is any editor that uses tbody and thead etc dont allow much customization

Which tables are you primarily talking about.

calling people names wont get you very far.

it is the Xmas/new year period, everyones life gets busy with family, work and some lucky ones get holidays, others get pc problems or are governed by the weather. Just relax, we havent forgotten about you.

As for your layouts I perfer the first one but think you need to turn your table borders off and spread your content out abit more, i was going to blame your cellspacing of 5 but see its more the amount of tables your using

I would use #006699 for the lighter blue and #003366 for the darker blue, they are more belnded shades.

the changes are looking good, keep up the good work.

colours are always hard, first thing that comes to mind is a darkish blue (blue = water ...) but there is no rule saying you have to use blue. probably stick to earthy tones but venture more towards peaceful/holiday or the easy way out, don't use one, keep it all white and seperate it by lines or an off white colour

Can you give me any ideas on what kind of colors to use

Much better without the adverts at the top Smiling

The colour of the photos is better as it gives a warmer feel but the actual photos don't compliment each other very well IMO, they kind of fight for attention and the logo almost seems to get in the way rather than create a harmonious header section.

I also still think the shades of green are wrong, especially with these photos being so blue.

I think it looks nice overall.

I don't like the banner at the top. It's where my eyes expect a title. I think the actual title is too small and hard to notice.

The pictures and colours are nice though. Maybe a little too much green. I think a few different shades of green might look a bit nicer than the same shade throughout.

One thing I noticed here is that your photos along the top look really dark. And it's not just because many of them are taken at sunset. Do you have photoshop? If you've got a good graphics program you should be able to fix those.

I agree with what the Webmistress said about the logo there. What you could do is put the text on top of the photos somehow. That would make it much more interesting.

Otherwise this is a good start for your first site. You've done a good job of organizing the page and your navigation. I do think that the left side lakes navigation should probably appear on every page since that is the main content for the site.

Good job!

Coding aside I don't think you have a bad start here but a couple of things on the design/layout:

Do you have to put those adverts right at the very top? The page would look much better if your 'site' started at the top.

The shades of green that you have chosen aren't the most flattering of shades to put together. Green is one of the hardest colours to get shades to work well together. I'd try a lighter, more olive colour and a dark green together.

The photos in the header are ok but very dull looking and all kind of merge into one another. Do you have any lighter, warmer looking photos?

Maybe try to work the logo into the header more as it looks a bit odd where it is just html text plonked under the pictures. A graphical logo would just finish off the header section better.

IMO all the pages on the site should have the same header section as the home/links page.

When I clicked on the links page link it bought up an error with something about the Web Directory plug-in not being pasted correctly. What's that about?

The texts "under construction" and "Updates" appear underlined, like link (in Mozilla Firebird at least). Smiling

Thanks for reviewing some other sites

First up, NEVER resize images using the width and height tags, ALWAYS resize with an image editor (irfanview is free easy to use image editor). takes ages to load on dialup because of those big images (one is 72kb).
You might want to turn the table border off in the main content section.
Also don't use underlined text that is the same colour as your links, very confusing.
Frontpage isn't the best thing to use to make webpages, if you must use an editor, use dreamweaver or one of the many other available ones - your code will thank you for it.
you have a code problem on the blackwaterriverstateforest/bearlake/bearlakemainpage page (should consider shortening your folder/apge names down to), looks like your missing a or somewhere , you also have a tag betwen and (end of page).
You might want to put a doc tag on it and try validate the code - goodluck
