REVIEW REQUEST: NetGadget Information
Hello!
I'm really new to web design, but I just posted a site I made (with a little help from my friends!!) and I would love some feedback on it. It seems pretty dull to me, visually, and I was hoping you folks could offer some suggestions to spice it up aesthetically. I'm still learning HTML, and my skills/equipment for graphic design are minimal, so don't go too hard on me
Thanks so much- I think the URL is in my signature (i'm new at this whole forum thing, too!)

Welcome Scott,
first up you have a gap at the top of your page, take out the "" from between the
, so remove the end center tag at the bottom of your page if you do
I see your using CSS and html tags for things like fonts and alignment, you should try keep it CSS if you can, all the basic stuff works on version4 and above. Your body margins aent working in Opera6 (as opera6) and is a bit messy in NS4.7 cause of your style sheet padding etc.
Its clean and to the point

Hi srose147! Welcome to TWF and thanks for helping out with a critique. It can get a little boring sometimes with the same ones reveiwing sites of others and helps a bunch to have some fresh opinions.
Your site is not bad at all. There are a few things that I would suggest.
The logo definately needs some livening up. It sorta blends in to much with the background color at the top. The blue colors that you have used compliment one another well. Not sure I like that white space at the top.
Back to colors....you will probably get other opinions but I think I would make the "netgadget.com" image at the top a bright color. Also I think it would look neat to do the "affiliate opportunity" and "cost effective advertising" in two colors. For example:
Affiliate Opportunity
Cost Effective Advertising
Of course, you wouldn't want to use those colors but ya get my drift? Or you could make each one a different color.
Affiliate Opportunity
Cost Effective Advertising
Don't know what would look best....just throwing ideas around.
You have a bit of a horizontal scroll. Your table is set at width="782". Have you considered using percentages for your table?
Also, your body text looks a little strung out. You could add some padding to the table to fix that. It would just bring everything in on both sides. What you will have to do though is put the body text in another table so that your image at the top won't be affected by the padding.
Not sure if you are finished with the site or not but you need some sort of navigation. You have several clickable links in the body of the page now. Why don't you put some links either at the top, just under your top graphic or on the side?
I suppose that is enough for now. Maybe the others will give you some better ideas.
Cheers,
Sonia

Hey thanks for your help...I did some of it, but i'm really not sure about how to pull the formatting out of the table so that i can put it in the CSS...do you think it looks better without the breaks at the top and bottom? hmmmm. i wish i knew a little more about this game

yikes, sonia! Thanks for the help. A friend (chroder) helped me a lot with the table part of it, so i'm sort of hit or miss as far as that goes. I'll get out the ole reference book and see if i can figure out what some of your suggestions mean to me
But i definitely appreciate the help, and I can certainly toy with the graphics without too much trouble

If you don't understand something or if I wasn't clear (which is very possible

I'm somewhat confused! Is this just a page you've done or have you done the actual Net Gadget site?? I would have thought that you'd have made them look like the same site, with the same logo and colours. I'm not keen on the heavy drop shadow you've used.

G'Day Scott,
I like the color scheme You've got,the sites to the point, not in Your face and yeah use percentages for the table structure cause the horizontal scrollbar(small but still there)has gotta go.I'm new here but saw http://www.carterjackson.com/index/celtic.html -This Site by Suzanne called tables demystified and it was great,go have a look.
