Ok. I know I am no where near alot of your standards, but there we go, this is one of my favorite designs I've done, It think mainly because it's very simple.

I don't want people just to say it's bad. I want to know wht is bad about it, I want people to say.... you shouldn't use this or you should add this to it. I might not change this but I would like to know for when I build another website in the future.

Hi Josh,

I will write down the few things that catches my attention in hopes it may help you out.

1. The images on the main page do not line up in the top section of the page (IE).

2. The menu on the left looks a little cramped compared to all the space given for your updates.

3. I am still not quite sure what greenhouse has to do with your site. The page is plain brown, I guess I expected some color since the title of your site does suggest this.

4. It would be nice to see some more info on the site. Try and add some more content.

Thanks for allowing us to see your site. Smiling

I don't see what you mean by the images dont line up, I'm using IE6, and the images line up... I amde it for 800x600+ as a rule.

It's called GreenHouse because the site is about Game and Watches. GreenHouse was the first Game and Watch I ever got. I think it does say that in either the intro or ORDER.

I've had a few comments about the color (or colour), I am going to change it to suit my FORUM colours a little more which are slightly better. I see what you mean about the menu.
Other comments?
Thankyou for not being to harsh.

I have your site open in four different browsers and the images aren't lining up right in any of them (Opera 6, Mozilla 1.0, Nestcape 4.08, and IE 6). You should probably find a better way of doing that so your design will work in more browsers. Oddly enough this seems to be working best in Nestcape (although the i-frame isn't working there).

I do really like the colour you've chosen there. I also like the yellow-ey tone on the forums page as well though. I don't know which one I'd choose - I'm kind of leaning towards the forums one, but I'm not sure. It might be a good idea to add an accent colour to what you've got as well. A lot of different colours would look good with this so it's really up to you. Dark green or blue for a more conservative look, red/orange or purple if you wanted to get a little funky.

Another thing I think you should change is the navbar. It's really not working centered like that. Definitely add a little more spacing on either site of the text, and try aligning it to the left instead of centering. Try adding a colour change or something on mouseover.

Otherwise this looks very good. It is a little hard to say without the images lining up right but I think you've done a good job. The font you've used on the logo is an excellent choice.

this is strange, for me on IE 6 the images link up fine, maybe its my monitor I will try and view slightly lower. and see what I can do.

Images also not lining up for me on IE6. I have tried it at on a variety of resolutions and nothing lines up correctly.

I also get an error on the page:

Line: 28
Char : 3
Error : Access is denied
Code : 0
URL : http://techneaux.mine.nu:81/~gameandwatch/

To add to what's already been said you need some padding on your tables as the text is running right to the edge and makes it harder to read.

The text you have at the bottom really doesn't need to be a graphic and it seems blurry to me.

I have to pick on the padding here. Both text and nav images are up too hard against the wall. Give them room to breathe. Wink

I don't think the nav font matches well with the rest of the site.

The light link color on the body text is hard to read on the background color you have.

PS: I don't see what doesn't line up. All images seem to be in the right place to me. IE6 1024*768.

Ok... Taken in alot of suggestions, just written the css for it and now the colours and the tables should be fixed, if things dont line up please email me a screenshot, because for me, IE6 , 1280X960 works fine. I made it to run at 800x600 just fine. I will add a bit of padding.

Oooh... new colors. Sticking out tongue
It's a little livelier, but you might just have overused the color. Use a milder shade for the body area.

The links in the body text are now much harder to spot. Impossible, even. Use a different color for the links or add an underline or something. Wink

Everything still seems in line to me.

I"m not sure about that darker colour. I looks a little greenish to me. You know, I really don't think that yellow looks all that great on screen. It's nice as an accent colour, but you may want to reconsider using such a dark shade for a base. The paler tone you used for the borders here and on your forums is fine though.

P.S. Everything seems to be okay now with the images lining up, except in Opera where the part between the logo area and the content area isn't showing up (it's just a dark yellow block connecting the two parts.

In your new version everything is lining up in IE6 now but I prefer the other colour.

Grrrrr. I will lighten the body area.. I've changed it so they have underline, also what is the css tag to make it over and underline?

If you wanted it to both over & under line on hover it would be:

a:hover {
text-decoration: underline overline;
}

Not sure if it was my computer or your site but the screen totally froze. Couldn't close it out and wasn't showing anything but a white blank page. Just as I was getting ready to restart my computer, the page started loading.

Not bad looking but where is my scroll bar on the right????? (not the IFrame one) That is annoying IMO.

I am not sure I like the colors. They sort of remind me of mustard. Maybe if you could somehow add another color to break up the monotony??? Just my opinion though. We all have our likes and dislikes. Heck, most of the sites that I do end up having a gazillion colors before I finally decide on what I want. Wink

I don't think I like how you have the navigation set up with the sections seperated. And maybe add some color change for you nav and other links. That would help liven things up a bit.

Everything seems to be lining up fine in IE 6.0 for me. Don't see any problems so you must have fixed that.

Nice work Josh. Keep at it! Smiling
