Review Request : Galt Collegiate
Hey,
Done alot of work since that last layout I posted for Galt Collegiate's new website.
The HTML can be found here: http://teenadvice4u.netfirms.com/GCI/template.html
Just wondering if you all could look at it and tell me the following:
1. Any problems with the HTML Coding (Meta Tags coming later) in any browsers. If so, how do i correct these.
2. How are the images, and if it takes too long to load them how do you suggest I counter this problem. Most are .jpgs where I could but for transarency I used .gifs
3. How is the layout of it.
4. I need to know what kind of fonts/sizes to use. This is a school website so fonts can't be too small. I have some at size 2 in the sub navigation.
Thank you in advance

This is getting to be a critique, so I'm moving this post. Good luck with your site! Suzanne

id lose the web hosting ad, page was pretty slow to load, the orange background took forever. im not sure blue and orange match. personally, the top design is sort of in the shape of a file folder wave deal, i would make it look more like that, with the main navigation on seperate folder titles. but that would be hard to do and well generally i just see too many conflicting shapes/colors in the design. -Josh

Those buttons are so totally exact to the ascenvia.net site's buttons that really they must have been made by the same person! There's no way anyone could reproduce something to that degree or accuracy, at least in my opinion. The header colours are totally identical as well, which pretty much sucks. Designers are supposed to design, not pilfer from a different site's proven styling.

perhaps its a free template design they both use, anyhow the slow image loading is probably down to netfirms, i used to use them and it happened to me, but you need to find a host with no ads, if your offering a service. apart from that your site isnt too bad, though content in the center would be of use.

I like the pixel art style buttons.... However they where not the right style for the genre of site. It seems you are trying to mix "cute" and "high end proffesional". Juts an idea.

Wow, Webmistress is on the ball again
I would offer my critique but that site is a total rip-off, and it shows! I'm sure this would look a lot better if you had done the thing yourself, it's scarily obvious that the buttons and layout came from another design, while the background was your idea (or taken from somewher else? )
It's not my place to ask you to go away and come back when you have something original to show us, but if I was a moderator that's what I would do!
Cheers, Liam
