REVIEW REQUEST: Fast-Sites.net
Hi Everyone,
Just finished redesigning my site and would like some feedback on the new design. I've centered it this time and added a background color.
The only section working is solutions, which is not finished. As soon as I am satisfied with the design I will go ahead and complete the site.
Any suggestions and advice would be much appreciated.
My site: http://www.bahamaswriter.com/fastsites.htm
Thanks,
Gavin

There are black gaps around your main section, add to your empty td cells ( ) and they should show, other than that looks very professional, maybe change the link color on the top tool bar (yellow section), they dont look like links. and the search form doesnt show up in NS4.7, looks like no form is actually there
The solutions page displays the same in IE5, Opera6, NS4.7 and NS6

Thanks Busy,
I had the big table bg color set to automatic so I changed it to white and the black spots don't show anymore in NS.

It seems to me that this doesn't look much different from the last version you posted. Overall it looks quite good, but I think that the background is too dark. It doesn't seem to coordinate well with the lighter feeling of the rest of the design. Try making that just white and adding dark border to the left and right side to separate the designed area from the background.
The orange and green on the right side seem kind of out of place, since they aren't repeated at all in the rest of the design. I would replace those two with another colour that goes better with the bright blue and yellow - maybe a red? Then use it a little more through the rest of the design - maybe for links. That navbar could use a little more life. Speaking of the navbar, I also think that the second yellow bar containing the search box should be visually separated from the one above it - try making the background for that one a lighter shade of yellow.

I want to change the bgcolor but can't find one that goes with the design.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

OK Tried white. Looks good. It might need a border but that would mean redesigning the whole thing from scratch again.

With the white I'd say it needs a border to keep it all tied together. I tried the orange which looked ok at smaller resolutions at first but not sure it goes with the yellow now! Or maybe that olive green, tie that into the scheme a bit more? Oh, why is matching colours so hard!!

Hi,
I was noticing the orange and pea green on the right. Kinda jumped out at me.
Why don't you use white there with black letters or maybe a dark blue font?
The site is nice, but there is a ton of room on your left side, and I'm on a laptop 15" screen set at 1024 x 768. You should try to use that space as well.

Thanks for the feedback Sara,
I might just try white with black or blue writing. It does kinda stand out.
As for the space you see to the left and the right I can't do anything with that until my site grows and I replace this design with a new 3 colum design.
Thanks again,

Welcome. You could always have a graphic background on the left, y'know. Maybe a stamp of your name?

I think it looks really nice. The only thing I would suggest that hasn't been said so far is... Make the text links at the top in the yelloo bar bold. And make this >>>>Small Business Web Site Solutions for The Bahamas!<<< in italics or something different to sorta seperate it from the links. But sometimes italics look crappy.

1. Compatibily: Looks great on IE 6.0 and Opera 6.0 800 X 600.
2. Design: Clean, crisp.
3. Graphics: lifestyle.jpg and Business1.jpg look a little over optimized. Also, I wouldn't use the border on your clickable images.
4. Navigation: Easy to follow.
5. Color scheme: colors looks good and compliment each other.
6. Contact process: Looks like you have all the bases covered.
7. Overall appearance: Professional
8. Other comments: I would make the background on the "About", "Portfolio", and "Contact" pages white like you have your home page instead of the gray color.

Two big thubs up!
The only thing is like disaster-master said, you might remove the border around clickable images. Or at least make it the same color as the links you are using so that it fits a bit more into the color scheme. Great job anyways!

Well done! Nice, clean, organized, and the colours work.
Did I mention how jealous I am? You appear to be doing what I'm doing and enjoy immensely - self employment as a web designer. Difference being, you're doing it from THE BAHAMAS!!! Grrrr!
I still have snow in the yard

Very well focused site. Perhaps you should consider telling your visitors about the $199 after they've read all the benefits!
