thanks matt,

I'm working on getting more "Featured Web Sites".. I don't want to list sites there that haven't listed me.. I have my links page for that Smiling

I think you're really suffering from a lack of unity in your design here. In a lot of places things seem to be sort of scattered or just plopped down and left. There are a lot of changes that should be made here:

  • Top nav bar - move the words closer to the icon. Right now they don't have any relationship to each other, they're just sitting there. Move the words next to the icon. Actually, I don't understand why this navbar is necessary since all of those items are listed on the tabbed navbar.
  • Banner ad - put some more space around this so it's not bumping into other elements. It would be nice if that ad didn't clash so much with your colour scheme Smiling Not much you can do about that though.
  • Logo - this is okay. It could stand to be a little bit bigger. The font for the tagline should be changed, that serif doesn't look good at all.
  • Tabbed navigation (colour scheme) - including the sponsors bar on the right you've got seven colours there. This would be okay if they worked better together. Some of them (the orange in particular) stand out too much and don't blend well with the rest. If you go to this site you can get chromatic variations based on a single colour. Use soemehing like that to find the right ones. This concept of colour would be good if you were using the right ones. Actually, it's going to be hard to make this work well with the green you have in the logo. Might be easier to keep the colour scheme simple.
  • Graphic under the Welcome header - that thing is awful, get it out of there.
  • Arrows - those are also really bad. I also notice that there's a completely different styled arrow in the Sponsors header.
  • Alignment - Four princiiples of graphic design: proximity, alignment repetition (above), and contrast. (PARC. You cold also say CRAP Smiling) The arrow next to the submit box there is not lined up with it properly. Same with the submit line below the question box, and the two lines below that should not be centered
  • Colour scheme (again) - On the sub-pages the colour scheme needs to be applied more coherently. On the FAQ page, for example, the background colour seems to be a different hue than the header. On the links page, the background colour is okay but the green links and orange URL's don't work at all.

That's enough for now. Overall it's a good concept, it just needs a lot more attention to detail.

Its all a bit busy - the main content bit is weighed down and smothered by the top bar and side bit etc.
