I Have recently finished creating a forum called Computer Help Center that provides computer help to its members. I was wondering if anyone can review it and give any feedback suggestions. It would really help me to get more people to visit it and come back again and again. If you like it please sign up and tell your friends to sign up. Any comments or suggestions are accepted.

From a design point of view there isn't really much of a design. It looks like a forum but there is nothing to distinguish it from loads of others out there doing the same thing! You need to have a logo, something to give the site an identity and make it stand out. Secondly, as it's been said many times before about new forums, start small with a couple of sections and then once it gets busier expand it then. IMO it looks daft having lots of sections with no content in any of them!

I don't want to sound negative, but you really are battling against many established forums.

It is a modified version of PhpBB 2 and it is hosted by DK3.COM I have not figured out how to add a logo or change the design. Do you know where to find a guide for Phpbb2?

Try the phpBB site, they have a support area and community forum so you should be able to find out what you need from there.

There's a long thread in the tutorials section of the phpBB forum detailing how to customize the templates for your own site. It's not too difficult - I actually had to do that myself last week. The easist way to change the logo is to just replace the logo graphic with your own.

There's also lots of style sets you can download which will at least get you away from the default look, or you can even get the original psd files and modify them yourself.

As always when forums are posted for review, I strongly reccomend that you start out with fewer forums rather than more. This will make it easier for people to get involved right away and will concentrate posts in fewer forums which will make you look busier than you are. Your forum specific section in particular has more sections than it needs. Also move that to the bottom of the page - you should keep the important content sections at the top of the forums.

You could try doing a search but really the best way to get help with this is going to be the phpbb website. You should really try to figure out why you can't get in there.

if you can't get into phpbb.com try phpbb2-users.de (where I got my skin from)

Just while I'm editing my headers here again - if you go into the templates directory in the phpBB folder (under "subSilver" or whatever you're using), you can edit all the files there. They are all .tpl files that you can open in any regular text header. overall_header.tpl and overall_footer.tpl are probably the ones you'll want to edit first (page header and footer, respectively). They look just like HTML files with CSS so you shouldn't have any problems editing them.

THe other people are right. THe forum brings nothing special to it.

Skinning it would be a good idea, also maybe a main site using Postnuke or something, with PHPbb integrated into would look nice. Give your site that fancy organized look to it.

Just my 2 cents
