hey all,
we just re-designed ascenvia.net. Still doing a bit of fine tuning, adding some interactivity, etc (your suggestions welcome) but the design is basically set, looking for critiques. Thanks!

Just quickly - this looks really good and that little character with the vocal introduciotn is a really great idea. Just as I was wondering what this site was all about, he came up and told me! Great idea (but you should fix it so that the user only sees it once - that could be really annoying for repeat visitors.)
Once again, I'm having a hard time reading some of the text on here. PLEASE stop it with the teeny fonts already (not you specifically, speaking to designers in general)! I'm a little big sleepy today, so the problem is particularly acute.
Time for lunch - I may post more comments later.

I agree with Megan on the font size. It needs to be a wee bit bigger.
It is a bit graphic heavy to for those of us on dial up.
Oh way to cool. The little dude follows your mouse around with his eyes. That is cute. And he even blinks his eyes.
You have a pretty good collection of links to tutorials. Why does the site say, tutorialengine.com on the tutorial page but then it redirects to ascenvia.net ?
I copied and pasted your code for the home page into my dreamweaver and noticed that there are several errors in your tables and ending font tags.
You could benefit from having a style sheet on this site. More than just the little bit that you are using.
Still not sure about the gray background color of the main body part but that is a personal preference.

I like the look of it. One thing i dont like is the top navigation buttons. a little hard on my eyes.
I definately dont have anything else negative to say. Looks great.
I dunno if you fixed the alignment problem but it works fine for me

I'm lloking at this on a 13" monitor and much of the text is impossible to read. I like the loo of your top navigation buttons, but cannot read a single one.
I love the virtual host. Thought it was cute the way his eyes/head followed my cursor around. It's great that he explains the website, but as I wasn't really listening closely at first, I think you should utilize some of the blank blue space near the top of your site to simply state the site's purpose.
On the Future or Failure page I could actually read the text in your gray table, but the white text on blue background on the right side was unreadable. It just seems ridiculous to spend all that time and effort to build what appears to be a professional looking aesthectically pleasing site and then use fonts that are too small.
I know larger monitors are common now, but I would guess there's stilla bunch of us stuck with 13" for now. I know you may not want to design for the lowest common denominator, but you really need to take it into consideration.
With a few simple changes (font size, textual site description) I think it will be an awesome site.

It's really an amazing site. The head is cool and will attract attention.
If you want a critique though: There is too much content in the first page for most people to actually scan especially as the design is also pretty busy. However this type of site attracts a different kind of crowd so I'm not sure my critique would apply to your target audience.

I don't have that many things to say about it, just change the font size - make it bigger
